(Help) Bruise on my arm due to a blood test
« on: April 08, 2017, 02:37:16 am »
Hi guys,

3 weeks ago I had a blood test. They drew blood from 2 veins on my arm. 2 days after that I had a bruise and 3 weeks later, I think it might be bigger. Should I worry about this or it'll go away? If I apply pressure, it hurts like a normal bruise. It doesn't hurt otherwise. What do you think?

Thanks.

Hi, yes I am. For a month now. Been taking tenofovir + lamivudine + dolutegravir for 2 weeks now. No side effects except for my kidneys feeling "heavy" sometimes. I was worried about that bruise though, I feel like it should have healed by now.  :-X

Hi

Well glad to hear you are on treatment, it takes most a few weeks/month to settle in I am sure you will be fine.

As for the blood draw, sorry to say nobody here can give you medical advise or diagnosis your bruise.

However as a general rule of thumb for myself unless I have a hard lump, extreme pain or red streaks running up and down my arm than its a bruise and bruises from blood draws will settle and can take a few weeks. Its also depends on what clown took the bloods, nurses tend to be far better than doctor at it in my experience.

However if you are concerned than make sure to see you local primary doctor (GP) and stop torching it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Jim

Hirudoid ointment will help disolve the clotting that is a bruise. Make sure it's hirudoid not haemaroid ointment ;-).  It has the same anti-clotting ingredient as in leech saliva.

It's great it will clear things up in about 3 days or so
