Atripla, Complera, next??
« on: January 18, 2017, 04:53:42 pm »
I live in the UK.
I have been on Truvada and since then I am presently taking Complera.
I am going to discuss with my Doctor the possibility of a change in regimen and I don t really know what and if will be offered as an alternative.
I have been doing well with the past and present one a day pills but recently I have been feeling extremely fatigued, rash and breathing problems that might or not be related to the HIV medications.
What new combination can I expect to be offered as an alternative??
Sustiva, Atripla, Complera, Stribild, Genvoya. Odefsey, Dovato.

Big question.

Depends not only on preferred choice NHS, but also on any resistance mutations concerns or hyper-sensitivity results. You have a wide range of options in theory, again it really depends on the situation and what is causing the current issues.

Look here is some info if your technical enough page 13 to 19.

I know its not the answer your looking for but have a conversation with your doc and find out what options you have when you see them.

I'm not sure.  If you have no resistance issues, you could be offered something with an integrase inhibitor, such as Stribild/Genvoya, Triumeq, or Tivicay/Descovy. Tivicay a two pill regimine that a lot of doctors in the US use because Tivicay is a well tolerated and strong antiviral medication that doesn't need pharmacokinetic booster and doesn't need to be taken with a meal, and it can be taken once per day.  Descovy is a new two-drug pill that has the newest "backbone" in HIV regimens and is better tolerated than the two backbone drugs in Triumeq.

Thank you all for the replies, perhaps I am simply running out of luck as I never experienced any serious health problems before and for a long time during my HIV prognosis and one a day pills regimen.
One of the problems I am experiencing by using two doctors (one HIV and the other GP General Practitioner ) is that very often one somehow blames the other for the possible cause of my present ailments and often even tests are not conclusive on the cause and remedy for the problem.

Hi

Sorry to hear that, I know this sounds radical but I would change both doc's if i could in such a situation. It does not sound like they have a professional respect for each other and its not helpful to you.

Jim is correct.  Doctors aren't supposed to play the blame game. And if there's any personal issues, they're not supposed to expose patients to that.  Their job is to access, test,  diagnose and recommend.  This isn't a soap opera.
If you feel like their unprofessional behavior is negatively impacting your health, work on finding new doctors. I understand you're in the UK so I'm not sure how that works,  but this is your health.  This isn't something you havw to accept less than the best.

After 3 years on Complera, Atripla before that with very good numbers but due to possible side effects such as excessive bloating, rash and lethargy,  I am now switching to Stribild which by reading the possible side effects it is very similar to Complera and some..
I guess I ll find out soon

Hi

To be honest, stop reading about the possible side effects, reading about it is not healthy  ;) Keep us posted on the switch there are a plenty of other forum members who take Stribild

Take it easy.

Day 3  on Stribild, no adverse side effects to report except for wind, lots of wind and I am worried about the ozone layer, I hope with time it will disappear and my numbers will be as good as they were with Complera.

I trust you mean that your "wind" will disappear and not the ozone layer! ;D

Otherwise, we'll have far more than a virus to worry about.

I'm sure your numbers will be fine.
