Herpes risk?
« on: November 19, 2017, 09:53:06 pm »
Hi first and foremost , I just want to say thank you for what you do here as it is a means of some helpful information of there is a way to donate please let me know. its just a risk assesmemt as I am really worried for the past 2 days i have been trawling the interent constantly and going over the same things. Well basically i went for thai massage and opted for a full body massage in the nude for the both of us which included oil, also to mention they do not provide sexual services apart from this. Basically to give you a insight as to what happend the massuse had got on to of me and her vagina touched the bottom shaft of my penis I instantly covered the rest of my penis with my hand, and she moved off almost immediately so she was in the position for about 5 seconds. She also touched/brushed my testicles with her vagina that I might add was not wet ,now I have been reading all over the internet that HIV cannot be passed through this enviroment as it dies instantly through air exposure Also i did notice the next day i had a shallow cut/break in the skin on my scrotum due to itching which looked as if it was healing and now today it has healed. I have also been reading that the wound would have had to be open and deep to have access to the bloodstream as if you would need stitches for it too heal. Just wanted to know would I have anything to worry about in regards to this as there was no penetration whatsoever and the head did not come in to contact with vagina at any point. This happend two days ago I know i wont feel any symptoms just yet now the questions i wanted to ask: 1. Would there have been any risk to HIV? If so would you recommend PEP?

2. Considering she was only in contact with my gential area a maximum of 10 seconds would I be at risk of catching herpes?

3. Feel a little numbness in feet and arms would this have anything to do with herpes?

Thank you all its such a relief being able to speak to someone about this could never be able to with my nationality as it is really frowned upon :(

Also I had a hiv/std test a month which I tested negative for.

You had no HIV risk or exposure whatsoever, HIV is transmitted inside the human body as in never leaving the confides, also the fluid you came into contact with from her vagina is not HIV infectious, not that it matters as even if it was its still exposed outside the human body and not a concern. You could have had open knife wounds on your scrotum it would still make no difference as HIV is not transmitted that way.

No need to take pep or test for something you had no risk for to start with.

Herpes, any sexual contact is a risk for herpes and most people have one of the herpes viruses. Herpes can transfer during viral shredding or sore to skin contact, some goes for a number of STI's, thankfully HIV is not one of them.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you for your swift reply, it has helped reassure me and not to worry about HIV. In regards to herpes situation can this still be contracted at 10 seconds of exposure. Its nearly the third day and im noticing pain in the feet i dont know if this just in my mind as i do have a tendency to think the worst in any given situation. Its such a help being able to talk to people here is there anyway to donate to this cause?

Thank you

Hi

Herpes is spread primary though viral shredding or skin contact with a sore, so any skin to skin contact no matter how long is enough if the partner was infected, and like I said most of the adult population have it.

If you go on to have an outbreak, see a doctor to check that it is indeed herpes and they can write you a prescription to treat the symptoms and shorten the outbreak. Its not unheard of to have symptoms shorty after infection of herpes but to be honest with you less than 2 days is really short and I would if you are infected with herpes suspect you were infected long before. Some people never show symptoms other take years or months to show.

Anyhow hope you feel better soon

Now just keep in mind going forward (if you are not already) to use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. If you do have herpes avoid sexual contact during an outbreak and if you have a regular partner who is herpes negative consider taking medication to prevent outbreaks and reduce the risk of transmission between outbreaks. Talk to your doctor if that is the case.

Also as you are a sexually active adult remember to do get fully tested at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV as part of a routine.

Take it easy.

Jim
