Please read our lesson on Transmission. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. This epidemic is going to be with us for a longtime to come and no one can afford to be ignorant about the real risks.

Kissing in any form is not one of them. There was no risk in the situation you are concerned about.

But please read that lesson.

I am astonished that such ignorance about HIV still exists. This is not 1982. That you had the temerity to actually post this simply illustrates how far we have to go as a society. And it is not about "getting the message out there." It's about realizing that people seem hell-bent on stigmatizing those with HIV, passing judgment on others, and willfully ignoring apparently EVERY SHRED of science since the movie "An Early Frost" premiered.

Had the poster taken the few precious seconds out of his/her concern over a KISS ON THE CHEEK and actually followed the rules of the forum and simply SCANNED the transmissions section, then s/he would have had his/her question answered there, without equivocation (Protip- You do NOT get HIV through a pimple. Not ever) or the embarrassment which surely must follow such a display.

If this sounds harsh, it is meant to be. We spent a Godawful lot of time carefully crafting the transmissions lessons. But what it boils down to is this:

Use a condom for vaginal and anal sex. Don't share needles. And you will NOT GET HIV.

If this is too difficult a concept to understand, I submit that ones social abilities have not advanced to the point where they are ready for such risky behavior such as squashing mosquitoes or being kissed on the cheek.

I suggest that the original poster inform his/her HIV positive "friend" of his/her concern and subsequent posting here. Needless to say, that ought to stop any future chance of cheek kissing from THAT person.
"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

Sorry to put such a post
I am aware that kissing doesnt spread HIV
but i put here this post because i thought that if saliva by any chance was blood stained, hiv cud enter through pimple which i thought must be non intact skin

del,

Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Even if there were blood present in the saliva, you still had no risk.

Del,

Getting someone else's body fluids on your pimples will not give you HIV.

Also try using proper English rather than 1337 t3xt sp33k, 0k?

Yes. I'm referring to all body fluids and excretions. Blood, cum, piss, spit, tears, sweat, pussy juice - the whole lot.

   Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

No matter what you throw into the mix, you still weren't at risk during the incident you're concerned about.

Really.

Let it go, get your symptoms which have nothing to do with HIV properly treated and get on with your life.

sorry to bother u with another query but probably this is gonna be last one.
i had exposure arnd
for which i got tested at 3,6 and 12 weeks.
Index values were .27,0.46,0.11  (non reactive)
But in recent test index value increased to .53
this increase in .11 to .53 has scared me.could this mean that this value could increase in future to >1.
tests were done at same lab and were 4th gen ag/ab combo
thank you

Del,

You never had an exposure. You didn't have a risk.

Your test results are conclusively hiv negative. You do not need further testing over this no risk kiss.

If you keep posting over this NO RISK kiss on the cheek, you WILL be given that time out Rodney warned you about.

PLEASE CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED FOR THE LAST TIME!

i am convinced about that
this i asked coz of a previous exposure
so it would be very kind of you if you could explain my previous question of fluctuation in hiv test

del,

The ONLY thing that matters is that all three tests results were non-reactive. That means you are hiv negative. The varying values don't matter one little bit.

You don't have hiv. It's time you got on with your life.
