I had a sexual encounter approximately 2 months and some change ago and it was the last time I have had sex. I used a condom, but did'nt think about it until later that the lube used was petroleum jelly and that it is an oil based lubricant. I know that this is a bad idea and my question concerns the integrity of the latex combined with oil based lubes. Does the lube lessen the integrity if the condom remains intact or is it just a warning that they will break easier with oil based, because the condom remained fully intact? Basically, I am inquiring as to wether the condom still afforded me the same protection from HIV as long as it was intact even though an oil base had been used? Thanks for the support. Also, I was the insertive partner.

If the condom had been degraded you would have known it. It's not a subtle event when that happens.
For future reference I think you understand that you should only use a water-based lube.
I don't see any need for testing in relation to this incident.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Just so I am understanding clearly though, oil base doesn't make it easier for HIV to pass through latex, it simply makes it easier for the latex to break not easier to be penetrated by a virus.

As Andy and Jonathan have said, the condom didn't break so you have no worries.
Please read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can be sure you are using condoms correctly. A correctly used condom rarely breaks.
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.
