EXTREMELY WORRIED!

Early November I went to an asian massage parlor.  The lady started giving me a blowjob for maybe 20-30 seconds and then stopped and later started doing it again for maybe another 20-30 seconds. In total the blowjob lasted prolly 1 minute give or take 15 seconds.  While she was doing this i was fingering her.  About 5-6 weeks after that incident, Christmas Eve I developed a runny nose with tons of mucus in the  back of my throat. The following day, Christmas I got a fever, lost my appetite, and loss of thirst.  The fever lasted 3 days, but I continued to cough and hack up mucus for maybe 2 more weeks.  Currently, I have no appetite, but I am still eatting, I am never thirsty but I still drink water, and the most scary part of all I am losing prolly 2-3 pounds a day even though I am eatting reguarly (I'm even eating fattening foods).  I've become really stressed/scared and have come to the point where I feel I should accept that I am going to be positive.

I know you guys say receiving a blow job is No Risk,  but I hope you understand all this symptoms I driving me INSANE, and I cant help but think I have it.  What do you guys think of my symptoms???  If you guys could some how enlighten me and possibly bring back some hope in my life I would greatly appreciate it.

We can only assess your risk for HIV and advise you to see a doctor if you are sick, we do not discuss symptoms because they are not specific to HIV and could be from anything .

HIV is sexually transmitted from unprotected anal and vaginal sex and not from blow jobs or fingering … no one has been in feted that way .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

I really don't know what to do??? Do you think I should test for HIV??  These symptoms are causing me a lot of fear and concern.

It never hurt a person to test for HIV and all sexually active should from time to time but if these are your only concern your test will be negative, I am confident of that .

Its a mystery to me why people would think they have HIV when they are sick, the symptoms of ARS fit a million other things than HIV . All of the people who come here with terrible symptoms recover as soon as they get a negative test .

If you are sick go see a doctor and find out why .

Thank you for you patience Jeff.  It has help a little.  I am curious to know how much blood would have to be in ones mouth to be considered a risk for the one getting a blowjob and can you be infected if blood enters your urethra?

The risk would be if you GAVE a bj to someone who had an incredibly high viral load and you had copious amounts of blood, from open wounds in your mouth.  Since that did not happen, you are fine.

Sadly, here once again.

So I got went to a massage parlor again.  I got a massage, handjob, and i sucked her nipples for a brief moment.  So my concern is, since I believe I squeezed a few pimples on my back the day prior, maybe during my massage I was exposed to HIV if she had a cut on her hand and she bleed onto an open sore or somehow found an opening to infect.  I may be having irrational fears, but in my find it feels rational due to all the hypothetical/theoretical senarios running through my mind that could of happen during that massage.  Tell me im being crazy.  I dont know what to think.  I also had diarrhea about 3 days after the incident.  Your help is much appreciated. thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that you have this fear again, look nothing you mentioned would be an HIV risk and if you keep having these irrational thoughts I would recommend you consider talking to a therapist to help you cope

The pimple is not a route and even if you had a route there would be no exposure from day to day wounds or contact with fluids. Let me ask you this was she bleeding extremely requiring urgent medical care as in hospitalization?

If the answer is no then you had no possible exposure from this event.

See next to lacking a route HIV is far to fragile to remain infectious exposed in small blood volumes as once it is exposed outside the human body to the environment, small changes in temperature, pH / moisture levels next to exposure to AIR damage the outer receptors that the virus uses to infect human cells and thus renders it unable to infect.

For the cuts/wounds to even be in the slightest possible, it would require both of you to have deep open cuts that are actively bleeding such as from a knife wound and than rub them into each-other. This would not be "day to day" so unless you were in a knife fight move on with your life.

Sucking nipples also lacks exposure unless you would be an infant and ingested large quantities of fluids.

I'm sorry to hear about feeling unwell 3 days after however it has nothing to to do with HIV as; A) This event was no HIV risk and B) It take longer for HIV to infect and cause a reaction from the part of immune system responsible for symptoms if noticed at all.

Thanks for the reply.  I took a blood test this past Monday to hopefully put this behind me.  I've been trying not to worry about this but my fears continue to take hold of my mind and I cant seem to shake them.

Is there any reason I should be worried?  It doesn't seem to be a logical way to get it  since its seem unlikely she would massage anyone with blood on her hands but many irrational fears seem to take hold of my mind.  Hopefully you can provide additional reassurance.

Unless you have engaged in activities not mentioned here, you simply had no HIV risk - I'm also unwilling to pretend it was a concern as it would be a disservice to you and also the members of this community -  Move on with your life.

Not to be mean but the issue here seems to be an irrational fear or perhaps some sort of phobia. I am sorry to hear that you are stressing about these events but if you keep having these fears I would recommend you consider talking to a therapist to help you cope with your thoughts.
