« on: January 18, 2007, 04:10:42 pm »
In New York  city, Manhattan, I am part of the HIV support group.  If you are interested come on by and make new friends.  It is every wednesday at 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Take care and be positive, oops, I mean good.   ;D
It  just started yesterday and there are three of us including the coordinator, Noah.  Call 212 367 1186 to Noah for more information.

What's stopping you?   Start one of your own and find support and help with eachother.  Let me know how things work out.  Later.

Jerry, is it open or closed (accepting anyone who shows up or planning on reaching a set number and then closing to new members)?  The plus on a closed group is that you can actually move forward each time.  The negative on an open group, especially if it is open to people who have just diagnosed as well as long-term hiv positive people, is that it's a stretch to facilitate.  Another point would be that unless things have changed, you would have to have done intact via GMHC before you could attend something like one of its support groups.

You are dead on about if the group isn't there where you live, start it yourself.  Best, Win

Hey Jerry,

Let me know if its open to women?  Also, let me know if there are any other criteria.  I don't live in NYC but I work here.  It would be good to go out and talk to someone.

Jerry: This sounds great as there can be a lot of good conversation exchanged in order to subside any unknow fears that an individual may have.

it is an open group so not to leave anyone behind.  I think that is the best approach for it fosters a friendly atmosphere and an open heart.
