Condom broke. High risk. Is PEP necessary?
« on: April 08, 2018, 04:55:56 am »
Had a casual hookup last night. Long story short, I did put a condom on but during the session it broke

Got a feeling it broke after 2 min then I carried on for another 5 min or so before noticing a different sensation.

Was using the ultra thin type of condom hence why didn't notice it broke at moment notice

Reason why I say I might be at high risk and pep might be needed is because

1. There's a Fordyce spot on my foreskin that popped recently. A crust form over it but still worried that HIV can enter any small openings

2. Foreskin is a bit pain due to dry masturbation for the past few days. Also worry that this may increase chance of hiv transmission through any small abrasion cause by masturbating

3. Did chat with her after the session. She used to party and drink. My guess is that she's also pretty promiscuous

With this fact, is pep necessary.... ? As I really want to have a peace of mind and most importantly to come out of this difficult situation I'm facing now...

HIV has fuck all to with being promiscuous or not. It just takes once.

She is promiscuous ... what the hell does that make you? This moral judgment is something the world could do without, it would be a better place. Women likes to have a party, enjoy life and she is labeled (judged)  promiscuous  ::)

For all we know she looks after herself and protects herself very well, she is just a healthy sexual active adult enjoying her body and natural sex drive.

How come she is promiscuous for having a drink and sex? What does it make you BTW as you equally slept with her? Gosh so must I could say about this but I am wasting my time I fear with you.

You had an exposure, the only way to know is to now simply test at 6 weeks and 13 weeks post exposure for HIV and test for easier to transmit STI's whilst you are at it and than move on with your life

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

No need to get so worked up. When I meant promiscuous, it means being sexually active. That's how we say it here in Singapore

And as for pep, would it be necessary?

PEP is up to you. If you are considering PEP note that the sooner you start the better and start no later than 48/72 hours post exposure.

Good to know.

Cultural difference as here in Ireland, as example we would call you a total wanker.

Test and move on with your life and stop judging other  peoples sexual behavior or past as its irreverent to you.
