Title: Scared Sick
Post by: Einhoven on June 18, 2006, 04:15:40 am
Hello everyone.  I have been reading alot of the posts and it seems like everyone in here is very knowledgeable.I have seen some cases on here that are very similar to mine.  I am a very worried person right now.  I had unprotected sex on 3 different occasions with a female who's status is unknown.  All 3 times were unprotected.  I feel like a moron and I know I wasnt very smart while I was with this woman.  I have begun to get very sick lately and I dont have any answers why.  I have had a persistent cough for about 4 weeks and I have enlarged lymph nodes in my armpits(painful) also some painful blisters on the sides of my mouth.  It has been about 13 weeks since my last encounter with the woman.  I had an Antibody test at almost 9 weeks, it came back negative.  I am very concerned because I have been reading that some people dont even seroconvert until 3 to 6 months. Question #1,Can I take my 9 week antibody test as a final answer and move on with my life? and #2 What would be a reason that my antibody would not show up for the 9 week test?

Einhoven,

You've had unprotected (I presume vaginal) sex and as such there is a risk that you may have been exposed to HIV. The risk is very, very low. HIV is a fragile virus and hard to transmit. Particularly from woman to man.  Nevertheless you need to test for HIV at the 12-13 week mark. Your 9 week negative test result is an excellent indicator that you will test negative at the 12-13 week mark as the vast majority of people who are going to test positive do so at about the 6 week point. You should be mindful that symptoms mean nothing when it comes to diagnosing HIV.

You should know that sexually transmissible infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea are much more prevalent and infectious than HIV, so you should ask your doctor for a full STD check. Please take the time to read our fabulous Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) which contains links to the venerable AIDSMEDS Lessons Section and our Posting Guidelines.

Can I ask why you are using different usernames while posting to our forums? Thus far, you have also used casimir (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=778.0)

Please realize that this kind of activity is disrespectful of other forum members, as well as our moderators. People spend a considerable amount of time helping others in these forums. Using multiple accounts is at the very least annoying, if not deceiving and disrespectful of others. It is also against our Terms of Membership (http://forums.poz.com/Terms.htm) which you agreed to when you became a member. This information is also contained within the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0), which you should have read by now. So really, you have no excuse.

You must realize that the answers won't change, no matter how many names you post under.

I would appreciate a reply to this message, and I hope you will commit to using just one account - preferably your original one. If not, you will be banned from further access to the forums.
