Am I at any risk?

To start off, I have OCD and am probably freaking out over nothing but just want a clarification. Secondly, I have read responses from Ann and others and would like to say wow! The administrators on these forums are amazing and really help a lot of people out. Anyways, about seven months ago a girl gave me a BJ. To my knowledge no cuts were present in her mouth or on my penis. Also, the main thing I am worried about, is I also fingered her. When I was, she was bleeding. I don't know if its because I was going pretty fast or what. And I bite my nails so I don't if that would produce cuts. To my knowledge, no cuts were present. But even if there was, would that present a problem? A explanation would be appreciated between blood and cuts on my hand. I know HIV needs to be inside the body, but if my hand was inside her body when the blood made contact would that be grounds for transmission?

In addition to what you already know about hiv being a fragile virus, it is also a picky virus. It can only infect a very few, very specific types of cells and these cells are not found on the surface of the skin nor are they found in shallow cuts such as what you'd find on your fingers. The only time a cut finger might present even the slightest worry is if you cut the whole tip of your finger off before you fingered a woman who was heavily menstruating.

An unprotected penis is at risk when inside a vagina because unlike on the fingers, there are the correct types of cells present that hiv can infect present on the penis. These cells are found in the lining of the urethra (where your pee/cum comes out of) and on the inner part of the foreskin (the part you cannot see when the penis is soft and the foreskin is folded over the head of the penis).

Not one person has ever been infected through either fingering or even being fingered and you certainly are not going to be the first. Lots of people bite their nails, have hangnails, and have small cuts and whatnot on their hands when fingering. It has never resulted in infection.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY FOLLOWING FINGERING, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

I mean cutting your whole finger off. It's meant to be an exaggeration because if your finger was damaged in any way so as to be a potential problem where hiv is concerned, the last thing you'd be doing is sticking it into someone else's body.

FINGERING IS NOT A RISK FOR HIV INFECTION. END OF STORY.

In adults, hiv is transmitted by:

Unprotected anal intercourse.
Unprotected vaginal intercourse.
Sharing drug injecting equipment.

If you haven't engaged in any of these three activities, then you haven't been at risk for hiv infection.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

At the end of the day, if you cannot bring yourself to believe us when we tell you that you had NO RISK, go test and collect your inevitable negative result. As a sexually active adult you should be having a FULL sexual health check up at least once a year anyway. It's like going for regular dental check ups - you might not have a toothache, and you might brush your teeth every day, but you go for the check ups anyway. It's all part of what responsible adults do to look after their health.

By the way, hiv testing is only part of a FULL sexual health check up. For example, while you're not going to end up with hiv while getting a blowjob, you CAN end up with herpes, syphilis and gonorrhea from getting blown. Hiv isn't the only STI out there, they don't always have any symptoms, and regular routine testing is the ONLY way to know where you stand sexual health-wise.
