I'm waiting for the number of users ignoring you to hit 3 digits, then I will play those on the Cash 3 lottery we have here in Florida.  I'm going to $5 box and straight them in case you wanted to know.

The only lottery I ever won was the HIV lottery.  And the jackpot - not so great.  :(

??? actually t246 started that thread
The ones that spring to mind are the who shot jfk, who destroyed the twin towers , did man land on the moon etc.

as far as the lottery, growing up Baptist in NC, I was taught it was gambling and that was a sin - and that actually explains my rather cautious and conservation nature to this day. However I did live up amongst the Yankees in OH for half my life (since I've been back in SC, it is offically half my life in OH and half my life in the Carolinas once again. WooHoo! I'm a Tarheel Buckeye ROFL), and I did get a few scratch-off tickets up there. I won $75 in those 25 yrs and spent about $150. ::) I had even worse luck playing the slots up in Niagara Falls. :D Now I'm back in the Carolinas and the sin-factor must be gone because they have the lottery here too.

but knowing the odds are high against me, having seen two good friends become gambling addicts to the lottery and they and their families end up homeless, and just being too poor myself, I haven't never played the lottery and I quit scratching any tickets. the most "gambling" I do is filling out the walmart survey and hope to win $1k ;D

The other morning on my way to work I stopped at a convenience store to gas up. The line was about six deep to pay. The person at the front of the line bought a bunch of junk food and sodas with a food stamp card and then pulled out cash to buy about twenty scratch-off cards. They proceeded to scratch off the cards and wouldn't step aside to let others pay. A lady standing behind asked if they minded stepping aside so she could pay. After some choice words were spoken the lady said, at least you could have the common courtesy to get out of the way so I can get to work to pay for your food. Ouch :o

So not only are you flamebaiting other members, now you've moved on to accusing the mods of having something against you.  Do you really believe that the world turns around about you?

Here's a suggestion for your lottery earnings: a couple of grams of good Colombian blow.  Or you can spend it on one of your Russian hookers with high stilettos.  Have fun.

Hugs and kisses.

LMAO  The little corner store by my house accepts foodstamp cards.  About two weeks ago I saw someone buy a $35 glass bong with their card, there were about 3 of us standing behind the guy and we couldn't hold our laughter.

you should consider reporting this incident to the Florida Department of Children & Families ;)  (http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/programs/access/foodstamps.shtml Report Public Assistance Fraud OR 1-866-762-2237). It's illegal to purchase anything but food items with a foodstamp card.

back in Canton, I reported a store. Not long afterwards, that store and another one run by the owner's cousin were raided and they were busted for money laundering, fraud, illegal drug sales, illegal gun sales, etc. It's incidences like these which happen and let those bigoted political people (ie teabaggers) claim that all welfare and food stamp recipients are frauds.

because I appreciate the help and support I receive from my tax dollars coming back to not only pay my heating but to get enough food to eat. The funds that go through the food stamp program are earmarked to keep people fed and alive, not to sustain and/or enable someone's drug habit. I wouldn't have suggested contacting the authorities if that person had purchased pampers or cleaning supplies.

I hate the state lottery. It is basically a tax on the disadvantaged and exploits people's desperation. The chances of winning a large prize is worse than being hit by a lightening strike (576,000:1). Still 1/3 of people in the United States think winning the lottery is the only way to become financially secure in life. It stands to reason that this third of the population is comprised of people who can least afford to buy lottery tickets. Here are the odds of winning a large prize in the North Carolina lottery:

Mega Ball Grand Prize: 1 in 175,711,536
$175,000: 1 in 3,904,701
$5,000: 1 in 689,065
$150: 1 in 15,313

Another thing that burns me up is how the state government has always insisted that the lottery money will only go toward education, which is a complete lie. In the budget passed this summer, legislators tapped the N.C. Education Lottery for $35 million to help cover North Carolina's share for Medicaid and other federal social service programs. Governor Perdue has already said that the lottery is not off limits for "easing the strain of the state's general fund" in 2011.

I'm not for outlawing gambling, even though I don't think it is a good idea. I do think our state government should be better than preying on the desperation of it's poor citizens. Tax people fairly, be honest about it and leave the gambling to the Native Americans: they deserve it more than Gov. Beverly Perdue.

strange. googling up that word only yields slang for dick, a fishing line weight, or a misspelling of mud/dirt dauber. Since you'll called me a similar thing recently in these forums anyway, I really don't trust what YOU say about the meaning of this word. thanks anyway.

Not being Glaswegian I had no idea that "dobber" also meant "prick". :)
being American, I had never even heard the word before and had to google it up. The search yielded few results but that definition from the urban dictionary is the number one result. So we all learned something. Y'all think this word is slang for narc and others on the planet (who are getting their definition out to more through urbandictionary.com that probertencyclopaedia.com) consider it to be vulgar slang. I suggest you should probably quit using it in such open world wide forums so that your meaning isn't so easily misconstrued. ;)

You were leaning in to speak to me
Acting like a mover shaker
Dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time

I speak Australian English and I have no intention of changing that simply because you don't understand it or seem unable to read the results that Google returns. You will note I linked to Probert which cleary identifies the meaning of the word in Australia.

So let's recap, shall we? In Australia "dobber" means narc, stoolie, informant, traitor, snitch, grass and so on.

That it also means "prick" in Glaswegian slang is just a most satisfying coincidence.

OK. Somewhere along the way, any conversation about a lottery which began this thread has gotten waylayed. And the way I read this thread now it's really not about semantics either.

It's about simmering and not quite hidden dislikes on the parts of several members for each other. So before this degenerates any further I am locking it.

And please, if you generally don't like someone's comments, just put them on ignore so we don't continue to have these venom laden exchanges.

Sheeeeez...
