Title: am i infected?
Post by: petter pan on July 13, 2010, 07:32:18 am
hi!

Was on a holyday in Spain where I got really drunk 10 days ago. At night, on the beach, several African prostitutes where abusing drunk people. When I am sober I can’t understand why I did it, but I bought a blowjob that turned into sex. I used a condom all the time. But after just 3 or 4 penetrations she screamed “police” and ran off. I got scared as well and pulled up my underwear and pants before removing the condom. 3-5 minutes later, I removed my condom and used the same underwear. I have red that hiv cant effect you if you touch the same toilet seat as a hiv-positive. Would that be the same thing? I am scared. Please answer.

petter,

Hiv is absolutely NOT transmitted from objects in the environment such as toilet seats! You're not going to get it from the condom being in your underwear either.

You did the right thing and used a condom for intercourse. You did not have a risk.

The most important detail in what you are reporting is that you used a condom all the time during this recent episode. The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. So you were effectively protected by having used a condom for intercourse.

HIV is not transmitted from environmental objects such as underwear, food, utensils, doorknobs, etc. So there's no cause for concern about that.

You speak of "African prostitutes abusing drunk people." You are the one who has to be responsible for your health and your behavior. Not mixing excessive drinking and a casual sex is YOUR responsibility so you can't shunt that off on anyone else.

From what you have reported I don't see any cause for concern about HIV nor any need for testing. We do in general suggest that anyone who is sexually active ought to at least annually have a full STD panel done. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV.

Thanks for answers

Of course it is my responsibility when I choose to drink alcohol. It is also my choice to buy sex. What I am saying is that these prostitutes where walking around in an area (bar-street) with lots of drunken tourists. It is obvious that their intention was to sell sex to drunken people, not regular sex costumers.

It's your intetions that are important.

Have all the sex you want to, but stay sober when you do it. And always use condoms for intercourse.

Petter,

As most "red light" districts are in areas with lots of bars and clubs, I'd say drunken customers ARE "regular" customers.

And by the way, getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection whether or not a condom is used.

Keep using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple! Read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them correctly and with confidence.
