Hello, thank you all that this site exists and you can help people like me.
My question is the following: can I contract HIV from licking fingers that have touched  pre-cum (I had small wounds in the mouth because the previous day I was at the dentist ,not sure they were open). Having anxiety disorder.
Thank You in advance, happy holidays :)

Hi , You have NOT had risk for hiv , once exposed to air the virus is damaged and unable to infect. This is why pre cum on your fingers is NOT infectious.
Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in UNPROTECTED anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies. Once hiv finds itself outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. The dentist visit does not change anything.
To avoid infection,

You need to be using condoms for all anal and vaginal intercourse until you are in a trusting monogamous relationship and both have been tested for all STDs and HIV.
Everyone who is sexually active should have an annual exam and test for all STDs and HIV ,and always after unprotected intercourse. Always using condoms will give you peace of mind your tests will return with a negative result.
