Hello world
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:17:26 pm »
I`ve not been on here for a very long time so in truth I`m a newbee on here as when I first posted I realy was brand new and that seems a life time ago now. I`ve been poz 3 years this month - well that`s how long it`s been since I was  confirmed hiv+ though infection was anytime from June  2000 to June 2005 - I hope it`s the latter! I`m not sure why I`m posting tonight or what I`m looking for but I just needed to ramble. I`m only just now really coming to the reality of my poz status and it`s implications as it`s been a rough ride - escapism through drink and drugs has previously clouded my vision of treality but I know I have to deal with this. Everyone who is anyone re: in the know, has made it plain that this is not a death sentance anymore; but my 1980s mindset is struggling to accept this as a fact. It would be truely beneficial to me right now if someone that has been at this point of mind set and come through it would give me the positve advice that I hope will help me wake up. My cd4 is pretty steady at @400 and I fear the med stage that will obviously come.

And the world sends a big HI and HELLO THERE back to you!   Well, at least I do.   ;)

Having been diagnosed more than 14yrs ago and being given an AIDS diagnosis rather than just being HIV+ (not that isn't earth shattering enough).  I had to start meds immediately so you see I'm living proof that this isn't a death sentence.  And there are many others on here who have lived with this disease much longer than I have.

I'm glad you are now ready to deal with this as you put it and if you don't have one already you might think about seeing a therapist.  Feel free to send me PM if you ever just need to chat with someone.

Good Luck & Welcome ... or welcome back.
AA
