Concerned ... Need help understanding Tests
« on: September 29, 2008, 09:03:06 pm »
Hi everyone,

Where do I start .... About 2 years ago I began having numbness in my hands and feet when awakening from a sleep.

Fast forward to July of this year, I began having numbness in my hands, feet, and face at any random time throughout the day.  I also get numbness in my head and sometimes it mimics a stroke involving my entire left side of my body.  This happened in August.

I was tested for HIV on July 1st and the test was negative.  I have had ZERO sexual contact with anyone since.  Prior to July 1st, I had a couple of occasions where I was with another person but there was no exchange of fluids to my knowledge.  Actually they were massages with some limited activity. These 2 occasions would have happened in late March or early April.  So they were at least 8 weeks prior to the test and probably closer to 10 weeks.  Not the full 12 weeks; but close.

I have never had flu like symptoms ... no rapid weight loss, no fever, no Diarrhea.   I have had a sore throat on a couple of occasions but all other symptoms are neurological.

My limbs flinch, my head goes numb and I get electrical shock feelings on my scalp.  My muscles and joint are sore and I get dizzy and very confused at times.  Now MOST CONCERNING is that my face has begun to cave in on the right side only.  ONLY one side ... Doesn't HIV Face wasting occur on both sides?  The cave in is happening where the tingling and numbness is going on.  From what I can read, it seems all of these symptoms are later or advanced HIV symptoms including post infection of 7-10 years.  However, if I've been infected for this length of time, wouldn't it have been picked up in the first test in July?

I also have what I call 'loose skin' on my face, neck, arms and caves .. it's like someone let 15 lbs of air out of me.  This is quit concerning ... is this any type of symptom to HIV?

I realize that I have a small degree of risk with the test not being the full 3 months after the last sexual activity, but am I clear from the events that took place years ago with the negative test?

Any thoughts or help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.  Please pray for me.

Thank you so much.

Keepfaith65,

I know there are certainly more qualified people on this site to answer your questions however it sounds like you were never at risk, and on top of that you tested Negative.  Yippee!  I would recommend seeing your doctor about your other concerns and keep on living.  Enjoy your negative status and be safe.

OMGGGGG PozMNGuy, you have NO IDEA how much those words mean to me!  That is the most encouraging thing I've heard in the past two months that I've had this on the top of my mind.

THANK YOU!
