That actually happened in the county right next to where I live in Richmond.  There was a huge story in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (known locally as the Times-Disgrace) about it.

A lot of people are kind of torn... because in the video, he was disguised, and many parents think (and I agree with them) that the school board went too far in suspending him... it's not like he did that in front of his class.

I just watched that on TIVO, Teresa.  I thought the painting was very well done; apparently, he paints with various parts of his male anatomy (more than just his arse).   As usual, Rosie and Joy's reaction(s) were priceless!   

I wonder who posted this guys junk (literally) on You Tube, which led to his being fired.

Well he did put a link to the YouTube video on his own website - so maybe he just wanted the extra publicity?  After all the attention he has received today - he can devote himself to his art full time and be a millionaire.  Or a talk show host...or a politician...or ?

I'm no prude by any means.  I don't know what the law for teachers is in VA.  I suspect it is like NY.  Teachers are bound to straightforward behavior in and out of school - conduct unbecoming a teacher is how they put it.  It gives a lot of leeway, but this guy is pushing it.  As he has once had a run in with the board and was warned, his suspension is not really unwarranted.  Mind you I'm not commenting on his behavior.  I seems perfectly OK for an artist.  Sometimes in life we have to make choices.  He has chosen to be a teacher, that places some limits on his freedoms, right or wrong.

PS - Razorbill prefers 17th century Dutch paintings of tulips to 21st century butt tulips any day.

We sure are quick to wag our fingers at teachers for what they do with their private time...considering what we pay them.


That said, you sure wouldn't see me lining up to buy one of this guy's paintings.  Can't help asking...
