Back to roller-skaters!
« on: October 19, 2006, 12:05:44 pm »
I am thinking about the possibility of abandoning my "modern" city skaters and going back to the old ones.  There are some new rinks in Paris and, since Madonna gave her latest show in town on roller-skaters, there seems to be more and more adepts of it! We'll see.
I remember when I was sixteen and would leave school in a hurry,  and rush to a rink called "Golden Days" to meet friends for a night skating and having a good time.  Actually, there was another "rival" rink called "Let's Roller" where the girls and boys were less "branchés!"
Good times those  were...!

The word comes from the Greek words φως phos ("light"), and γραφίς graphis ("stylus", "paintbrush") or γραφή graphê, together meaning "drawing with light" or "representation by means of lines".

I am the world's worst roller skater.
I learned to ice skate at an early age, and I somehow thought the skills would translate well to roller skates ...but I was very, very wrong.

And poor Sonny...

I think roller skating is much easier than roller blading. I never felt really comfortable on roller blades. We used to skate outside when we were little, with the steel skates that fit over your shoes, then when we were older we went to a rink. We were little disco diva's on our skates!
