I'm on almost the same combo - though I'm taking truvada in place of your intelence.  Too many pills?  I never understand this argument.  What difference does it make if it's 8 pills or 6 - you're still taking pills?

I also don't understand why your doctor would say you can take out norvir -- as far as I know if you are treatment experienced you must use norvir (100mg/twice a day) as a booster for prezista.  It's a minimal dose and most likely will not give you diarrhea, or if so very minimally and easily offset by imodium.

If you were not able to get your VL undetectable on your previous combo then, indeed, you need to be on a stronger HAART regimen.  I've ALWAYS been on a 3-part regimen.  Your posting history shows many issues with allergies or other side effect issues that restrict you from taking certain meds, so your options are minimal -- these meds they are switching you to are honestly the best stuff out there right now and should work quite well.  Since I've been on this similar regimen I can honestly say it's the LEAST side effects of anything I've taken in the past 15 years, as well as given me the very best lab numbers.  It's also decidedly improved the quality of my life by greatly diminishing fatigue issues.

Good luck.
