Oh, well, drat.
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:12:23 pm »
My dizzy spells have been worse lately.

Doctor put me on Meclazine. Anybody here ever take it?

I took half a pill and it put me to sleep.

But the dizziness has diminished.

I am still not happy.

HUGS,

Mark

I am so sorry to hear that, Mark! I hate it when medicines cause side effects, that are usually treated with MORE medicines. It's like the rhyme about the woman who swallowed a fly sometimes. Hope you get things straightened out soon!

Mark, ah yes, Meclizine.  I've taken that.  I've had problems with dizziness/nausea for years.  I don't take Meclizine currently, but have in the past.  Also took Phenergan when the nausea really got problematic.  I hope it works well for you.

Hello Mark.

Also sorry to hear about the problems your having.  Could any of this dizzyness be associated with COPD, what about Vertigo ?

Oh Mark, you poor guy...   Yes, I've taken Meclazine (Anti-vert) for dizziness/Vertigo before, and it does make you sleepy; so does the phenergan for Nausea.

My good friend Joe has suffered from serious Vertigo for a long time; when his gets really bad, he has to go to some specialist (I'm not sure what kind?  ENT? )  and they have some special table you lie on, and they rotate you to certain position to get something in your inner ear (fluid maybe?) to move around and then he gets up, and it is gone, as quickly as it came on.   I can find out more, if you want me to...

Hope the dizziness stops honey; I know how it is to go around dizzy, and afraid you might fall; please be careful, you don't need to break something !   Hang onto the rail when going up/down stairs, especially.

Many hugs,
Alan

So Mark, your Doctor didn't rule out the side effects of other HIV/AIDS Medications as the cause?
hope you get to the bottom of this, at least the Meclazine has Stopped the dizzy spells, but, I'm kinda like you, I don't like to take other Meds that put me to sleep, that seems like your trading a side-effect for
another one, so I see why your NOT happy about this, I sure wouldn't be  ???

It seems to come and go. Last week actually exactly a week ago, I was in another city for work and, when awoke in the hotel room, the room was already spinning.

That was not a good day, had trouble walking for a while. But I managed to make the drive home OK. It was only a two-hour drive.

I have also been plagued with headaches almost daily and, now, I have been getting stomach cramps. I don't tjhink its related, but who knows.

Of course, this morning, I started to fall, swung around to catch myself on a dresser and promptly stubbed my toe on the bed frame. Split it right open.

It could be worse. I could have broken the toe.

Dennis, the doctor isn't too sure at this point. It may be something viral. That would fit with everything else that has been going on.

Of course, my cocktail may be contributing as well.

We may never know.  ::) ???

HUGS,

Mark

Oh Mark, that sounds horrible.  Maybe you should use a cane for balance.  Like one of those 3-pronged ones.  Dunno, that may help.  Good luck sweetie. :-*

Hi Mark , sorry your having a tough go of it lately .

I have a friend who is dealing with chronic ear ringing and balance problems . He is a doctor himself and has tried many doctors and specialist with little or no relief until he tried acupuncture .

He told me he has to go once a week but it has helped a great deal .

Hi Mark,

Sorry to hear of your current dizzy spells; most disorientating I'm sure; and a sore toe now in the mix - not good!

No experience myself so can't offer any words of wisdom but hope your doctor can get to the bottom of it and it soon gets sorted.

Take care,

Boze,

I'm sure your good wishes are much appreciated, and community support is important in the Forums. That said, please read the welcome message to the Long-Term Survivor Forum:

http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=11166.0

It's important to maintain a forum just for long-term survivors to discuss issues that are occurring in their lives. For that reason, we only allow posting by people tested positive before protease inhibitors became available in 1996. Please honor those wishes.

Mark,
I had really bad dizzy spells 10 years back. I would get dizzy, then my stomach ached, with headaches.

They gradually got worse and worse, I would loose the horizon, and puke. It really sucked. I ended up having a vestibular nerve section, and have been well since.  (I was diagnosed with Meniers Disease.)

If things get worse, I think a visit to an Ear Doc would be a really good idea. You never know. Better to be safe then sorry.

Did you fly recently? Sometimes I get these symptoms after flying. I hope it's nothing serious. Please keep us posted.

I know how unsettling this can be. Hang tough my man.
