Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Hello, I was hoping to get some reassurance because I can't get this out of my head. Around 8 months ago I was on a business trip to Houston and went to a strip club. I ended up getting very drunk and had vaginal sex with a stripper with a condom she gave me. There was no oral just vaginal and the condom didn't seem broken afterwards.But I didn't really check it I just pulled it off and threw it away. I am married and my wife is nursing my baby daughter( she was a couple months old at the time). This is the only person I have ever had sex with besides my wife. I couldn't live with the guilt so I confessed everything to my wife. She was crushed but forgave me because I vowed to quit drinking. ( I have been an alcoholic for the past few years). She said since I used a condom there was no risk to her or our baby so we started having sex. I started to get real worried about stds and hiv so at 9 weeks I went to my dr.and got tested for everything incluging hiv. Everything was negative. But I can't seem to stop worrying. I have read a lot on the internet and on this sight where people were claiming to be infected even though they used condoms. I went back to my doctor and he gave me some anxiety meds and told me that there was absolutely no reason to worry. He said I would have tested positive by that amount of time and I need to let this go. I am just scared that I am putting my wife and child in danger

You had protected sex and used a condom , so you did not have a risk . Condoms are designed in a way that when they fail there is no doubt , they noticeably have large tares or shred .

You tested for HIV and stds and are negative for all , so accept it as a blessing and move on .

I appreciate your speedy replies I guess it just scares me when I read about people on here contracting hiv even though they used condoms

Condoms used correctly and consistently prevents HIV ...
meaning , intact condom = no HIV .

Well since this my last free post I want to say Thank You for all that you guys do. I have read countless threads that you Ann Andy and others have helped people like me. You guys are truly good people. I am never doing this again and I have completely quit drinking. My wife has forgiven me maybe if I could forgive myself I could let go of my irrational fear. It is irrational right? Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

In my opinion it is when you forgive yourself that you start the process of healing. I absolutely wish you the best.
