Site Performance & Google Analytics
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:23:32 pm »
Is it just me or has the performance of this site started to degrade??? I keep seeing queries to google-analytics with each page refresh and they are taking forever!

I am having the same identical problems.  Pages are taking 30 to 40 seconds to load,  First noticed it around 1:30 EST today.  It is now 8:30 PM est and there is still a problem.

This is very similar to the same problem quite a while back.

Tim,

Besides the hangup with google  analytics,  it also hangs on newad.poz.com

My antivirus is up to date , and not showing any problems.  I am also running malwarebytes and Superantispyware.  Both are updated, and both scans so no problems.

The only problem is with this site loading. All other sites are fine. I am using firefox( latest version) , but the problem is also on IE 8.

Yup, I keep getting Page not responding, which Ive never got before. I tried using my NEtbook to login, same thing. Also interestingly, I got some weird pop up saying that my computer was infected with viruses and to "click here" to remove them (of course I didnt)....but I also had Xtube pulled up so it may have been that.

Google analytics code can affect site performance if the relevant code is inserted the wrong part of the page.  Additionally if for some reason a person's browser fails to execute the GA javascript code, the page may not load at all.

Well if the GA analytics code has been placed wrongly in the relevant forums page (and I'm not suggesting it has been), you can't. Only a site administrator could fix that.

If your browser has something like Noscript or a similar javascript blocker active then you might want to adjust your settings. :)

you don't. ;)
I would imagine this is another problem for our saviour, protector, and guardian angel - Mr. Horn ;)
(because if you, or any of us others, had had javascript blocked you would have been having this problem before now)

Earlier when I read this thread, no problems. Now it seems slightly slower, 4-5 seconds to load a page, but no weird messages. No Google shit.

Tim has been aware of this potential glitch for a few days now and asked for feed back in this appropriately named thread - Forums Connectivity Problems?

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Sorry, my fault  :P I didn't realize there was a thread to report issues on. Won't happen again. On the upside, the issue seems to have abated  ;)
