Please Tell Your Story in a new book about coming to terms with HIV

First of all, thanks to Tim for permission from the AIDSmeds moderators to post this solicitation.

A Call for Interviews Regarding
Coming To Terms with HIV (the heart breaks open anthology)
Please share this call! We want to reach as many people as possible to make sure we have great people to interview.

The creative team behind the upcoming film ‘heart breaks open’ is curating an anthology about coming to terms with becoming HIV+.

Some of the questions include
- What was it like when you found out you were positive?
- What changed in your relationships?
- What was your experience like with the medical system?
- How did you decide who to tell? What was it like when you told them?

We’re looking for anyone who is HIV+ and willing to be interviewed. Interviews will be recorded over the phone, then transcribed and edited for the anthology. Participants have the choice to remain anonymous.

Please help us by telling your story. Contact us if you want to participate or if you have more questions.

Sounds like a good project.  Except for this part of the concept:

"heart breaks open is a multi-platform project. The cornerstone of which is a feature film about Jesus, who finds his voice after being diagnosed as HIV+."

Jesus Christ?
Is this meant to provoke more hatred and resentment and misunderstanding from the Christian population against HIV+ people?  Is that shrewd?
Or some strategy to get them to finally understand through something about Christ's suffering?
I dunno. I worry.

Maybe tell the story of Jesse Helms' trajectory of policy regarding HIV+ people.  Jesus? Really?

I'm not going to throw around the "R" word, but there's much to be offended by in this chain. Whether from ignorance or a poor attempt at humor, it's demeaning to Latinos. If you want to discuss the merits of the project, please feel free - but keep the "Jesus" humor to yourselves.

This is one of those threads where certain jokes are simply inappropriate.  The OP may just need to clarify why "Jesus" is part of the equation (I for one wouldn't want to participate in anything that has a religious tinge to it).

a quick peek at the linked site (http://www.heartbreaksopen.com/people/) shows that Jesus is not the religious icon from Protestant religion, but an actor (Maximillian Davis) protraying a character (Jesus) diagnosed with HIV and his reactions to that. The character, Jesus, does however discuss how his religious viewpoints help him come to grip with his diagnosis (http://www.heartbreaksopen.com/clips/)
