  • I must be a survivor in many ways...
My HIV doctor told me, after I had her read about the gathering :

"There is so much anger, so much grief, so much loss and pain in people with HIV.
I am glad you all found a place to let it out, but also found a place to share it."

I think my Dr. Bea is so right.

I focus on the positive experiences.
We are all different. HIV does not not erase those differences.
What about tolerance and understanding?

I am glad I am alive.
Life is learning for me and enjoying the time I have left.

I am prepared to go....but I will spend my time left  looking for heartconnections and positive strokes.

Life without love

Yes, but can we love again? How long is s/he going to stand by you? How can we find someone to share your feelings? Life stops when that love dies.  I found that love.
And so it has been, and so it is written
    On the doorway to paradise
That those who falter and those who fall
    Must pay the price

Nick: Yes we can love again but it takes awhile to let it in. It does not come that easy, either. I've lost 4 partners to aids and am still here in a loving relationship with my first hiv negative partner. We've been together for 13 years but I did not "fall in love" quickly after my previous partner died. It really hurt and my heart turned into a rock for a long time. I was not "searching" for anyone to love me. It just happened and I even tried to scare him away telling him I was positive. Nope. It didn't work with him. He loves me like a flea sticks to a dog. He doesn't know it but it took me around 2 years to really begin to have strong feelings for him. Now it's different because I care for him more than for myself. I guess that's love, again. My life did stop for a moment after each partner died but I guess there are still a few available "angels" out there. They just fly in when we least expect them to. Even if you feel sort of lonely or depressed, do not close yourself to the world. Go out. Treat yourself to something nice and above all, love yourself more than any partner could ever love you. A little faith in God also helps. Our loved ones stand by us as long as long as destiny wants them to. Then we stand alone, but with a fist in the air...and a strong beating heart!
