Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Handjob after Oil Massage - HIV risk

Dear Admin,

About 3 weeks ago I had a oil massage at a massage parlour. The lady asked me to lie on my stomach and started to massage my legs with baby oil. She then massaged my back and after about 40 mins asked me to turnover. She then massaged my chest and stomach.

Towards the end of the massage she gave me a handjob using baby oil. I ejaculated and that was the end of the session. There was no sex as the lady kept wearing her underwear throughout the session. I don't have any visible cuts on my penis.

It was an extremely stupid thing that I did. Ever since that time I am very very stressed thinking that I may have contracted HIV from this experience. I don't have any other symptoms apart from muscle palpitations and stiffness/soreness in my back, arms and legs. I am very very anxious about this and want some guidance about HIV risk from such an experience. I did not see any blood on the lady's hand but I cannot be sure. Can HIV be transmitted in this manner? Would oil and air exposure play a role?

Please tell me where I stand. My anxiety is killing me and I keep waiting for my situation to get worse. I cannot sleep properly nor I am able to to do any work. My life seems to be in a mess at the moment. I would really appreciate your help.

Under no circumstances is this an HIV concern. HIV is transmitted through unprotected vaginal and anal sex. sharing IV drug needles, and from mother to child on occasion.

We have an excellent LESSONS section that details the relatively few methods by which HIV is transmitted. I urge to to read that section.

I have been reading online forums and information about possible transmission via handjobs. It seems that everyone seems to believe that HIV is not transmitted in this way. I am so scared as this morning my wife woke up complaining about body aches of the same type that I am experiencing. I have only been intimate with her once after the exposure and even in that incidence I did not ejaculate i her (i wore a condom midway through the sexual act).

I don't know what is going to happen. I cannot sleep or eat properly, I have been up all night. Please can one of the administrators respond to my query. Please

Help,

You absolutely did NOT have a risk for hiv infection. Hiv is NOT transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, which is what happens during a handjob - skin-to-skin contact. Her hand could have been dripping blood and it still would not have been a risk.

Whatever is going on with you and your wife has nothing to do with hiv as you did not have a risk for hiv. If you feel unwell, go see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection. It's time you got on with your life.

So just one last thing, even the urethra opening is not exposed? Can I continue engaging into sexual relations with my wife?
