I tend to be an natural/organic health food kind of guy, and have been reading constantly about the benefits of raw (unpasteurized) milk. And I drink ALOT of milk (we go through 8 gallons a month minimum in out house - I use milk in my protein shakes.) But I also remember hearing that raw milk was a big no-no for those of us with HIV because of our weakened immune systems...on the other hand, I am very healthy, good CD%, an undetectable VL, and never get sick even when everyone around me does.
I'm also reminded that I was told I shouldn't have birds or touch turtles (I have both), and should never eat raw eggs (I have 4 every morning in that same shake.)
Sooooo...I'm wondering if any of you have had experience - good or bad - with raw milk.

Some of the best ice cream and butter I've had was unpasteurized.
I don't worry about raw eggs, raw oysters or any of that stuff; and don't think there is a need to with > 500 CD4s. I probably wouldn't with < 200.

When I was sick and had low CD4 counts I was told to avoid eggs, unpasteurized milk and soft cheese made from unpasteurized milk, I was also told to avoid seafood, under cooked meat and coming into contact with any animals. It's all a bit impractical as i live in a small rural town with plenty of fresh food.
Nowadays however my Cd4 and % are pretty stable (790 & 35 %) and I am in better health so i eat whatever i like as normal including unpasteurized milk and soft cheese. I mean there is never a 100% guarantee of safety when it comes to raw foods or drinks, but that goes for anyone.
