Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Hi,

Having read different topics and opinions, i still am worried about my hiv status.
I had unprotected oral sex (i got a blowjob) with a female sex worker and afterwards vaginal contact (with condom). As i read in many threads this is reported as small risque behaviour.
Though I was very worried and got a white tongue about week 10 after the sexual contact. During week 11 I got tested on STD's and HIV. Everything came out negative, but i still was freaking out because the white stuff on my tongue didn't go away. 
I contacted a doctor who examined my tongue and diagnosed an infection and prescribed flucanozol and nystatine. About 10 days later the infection was gone, but the white stuff on my tongue stayed. 
I was freaking out and thought this symptom could have s'thing to do with hiv, so i got tested again (during week 15). This test came out negative again. I was a bit more at ease, but my doctor told me i had to the test again after 6 months.
Now 24 weeks after the incident, my white tongue is still there and i'm really scared i might have hiv. 
Should i test again?
Is it possible to seroconvert after 13 weeks?
Could someone testing negative after week 13 have developped infections caused by hiv?
Could i have already reached the aids stage?

please help, i don't know what to do.

You were never at risk for HIV.  A 13 week test is conclusive, which you didn't need to have in the first place. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV.

thnx for ur answer.
I 'll try to get on with my life again, but the info on hiv i've read on the net varies extremely.
Some say oral sex is a risque, others say it isn't... some say hiv tests aren't reliable before a window of 6 months...it's all so confusing

Keep it simple and stop surfing the net to feed your fears.

Here's the deal:

In the entire history of the epidemic and uncountable blowjobs later, not one single case of transmission to a guy getting blown has ever been confirmed. So it's safe to say that you won't make history by becoming the first no matter what your mind says to the contrary.

The CDC is quite conservative about testing and has for a long time agreed on 13 weeks as a reliable testing point UNLESS intravenous drug use or a severely compromised immune system from treatment for cancer or such is involved.

Nothing you have reported in any way suggests HIV is a problem for you. If your symptoms persist that's something to discuss with your doctor.

This is NOT an HIV situation. Period. End of story.
