HIV in Serbia III
« on: April 04, 2007, 04:10:54 pm »
My intention was no so ever to put a threads which will produce some bad blood beetwen members of this site.Or to make difference beetwen peoples , states ,....we had a civil war in our country and at the end of it everybody was guilty and nobody was feeling nice.
We all here are unique persons with specific political attitude , sense of humor ,..............etc,etc , and thanks God that it is like that.
My intention with all this threads was to point to something different :

to a constant defiant feeling that a HIV person is getting from a state-employees , almost all medical stuff (except one charged in HIV ) and ordinary people................How  is that?
Because:

1.Serbia is getting the donations and nobody knows where the money go.

2.There is not a specifically medical personal obligated to treat HIV persons except for 3 doctors who are specialized in infectious diseases. When you ask them to reffer you to some other HIV specialist ( proctologist , pulmologist , hematologist ) they say they do not know any ,and let you do it by your self.
And it is tricky because if you go to a state hosp. you need a HIV specialist opinion and maybe you will get a " full schedule until 2121 " answer.A private is out because of fear that a doctor could loose all the non HIVpatients .

3.There is not a social support what so ever.Only group JAZAS is the " de facto" a screen for collecting donated money, and that`s the public secret so to speak. And only one professional social supporter in a whole state.

4.But what is the most annoying is a retarded mental attitude toward HIV people from the ordinary one : " They were marked for HIV".
That attitude is so strong that sometimes I`m just convinced in that also.

But I`m hanging on..........................

Al, thank you so much for your posts on HIV in Serbia.  It’s hard to imagine being in a country where medical professionals are indifferent, fearful, and even hostile to people who need help, and where government is not accountable to its citizens for providing even minimal services.  It must make you feel very much alone.  I’m sorry that life is so hard for you.  I know the AidsMeds forums aren’t a substitute for the access to resources you might rightfully expect to have as a human being.  But I hope you feel  a little better knowing that people here do read your posts, and are concerned about what happens to you.
