so i'm starting this combo tonight or tomorrrow... just wanted to see if anyone had anything to say about it. my doc said i may have some GI problems but that would be it. he will also test kindney functions in the future.

i will take them with food.
morning - 1 truvada, 2 kaletra
night - 2 kaletra.

this is very exciting. i'm going to stomp on the virus.

well... i did it. i cried and cried and then took my pills - 1 truvada and 2 kaletra - an hour ago. about 5 minutes after i swallowed them i had a small panic attack. then i did some deep breathing, watched a little stiptease (demi moore) and then a little of the View. the pills have been in me for about an hour and i think i'm ok for now. i'm such a drama queen.

It's good to have a bit of a cry now and then so no worries, eh? It's a good way of letting off steam and you don't have to be a drama queen to do it. I don't have any meds experience yet, but I understand your anxiety over starting because I feel it too.

I hope you're still feeling ok. Sounds like you've been keeping yourself busy and keeping your mind off it, which is a good first day coping strategy. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hang in there mate... I'm looking forward to the day when you come here to report your UNDETECTABLE viral load results.

well it's been 5 days on this combo and SO FAR i'm doing amazingly well.

i had no short term side effects the first 2 days. i vomited once on the 3rd night - i don't know if it was anxiety related as well but i was just feeling weird, couldn't sleep then - VOMIT at 2 am - then back to bed... since then i have had nothing. I feel fine... kinda feel like i shouldn't feel fine but i do. i guess the new kaletra tablets are much better than the capsules on the stomach. i'm scared that the diarrhea will start or something worse but for now i'm counting my blessings. Let's hope it continues...

I am experiencing the same thing, on my 3rd day of Kaletra and very queezy. Glad to hear it gets better. I hope I feel normal again...

Been on kaletra and Kivexa for ten days now, double dosing on the kaletra because of a nearly fatal interaction with sustiva! side effects still very @there'. Do you find yourself very impatient/aggressive? My poor partner has put up with loads!

i felt very restless yeah. more so i had a lot of GI problems. Stayed in bed. Yup my partner put up with loads too....

well i have been on this combo for one year now well the anly intestinal problem that i have had has been with gas and direha just watch out for the cholestroel problems

the worst was the acclimation period of bout 5 days. i was diagnosed given the scripts and sent out the door with no warning. awful lota to handle @ one time. to say the least i found another doc. the worst was the itching and the rash, it started on my stomach and slowly moved around to my back. it lasted for about 3 weeks. then therz the itching all over the body. no rash on my legs my they always itched. i had more of a problem w/ constipation then the later. that last bout 2 weeks. constantly thirsty. went through 6 gallons of water in a week. and if you react like me unfortunately NO LIQUOR. made me as sick as a dog even a glass of wine still after five mouths. really fucks w/ my stomach. if i eat the wrong thing. but ill have to say my cd4 count jumped from 120 to over 400 in 3 months so itz doing something right. hang w/ it, my suggestion is take 3 days off from work geta lota water and soup.

Been on Kaletra/Truvada for 10 months now.. Once daily dosing (treatment naive) and have remained undetectable and steady cd4 increase.. I was curious that they have the option of twice daily or single dose daily? I know the FDA has approved Kaletra/Truvada as a once daily regmin. Seems to work for me..

The last time I went to my doctor, she told me that I can take my Kaletra/Truvada once a day if would like to. I've been taking my Kaletra twice a day and I don't know if I want to make that switch yet.

I was first started with Truvada and Kaletra when I started my regimen. I first noticed that foods I was used to consuming weren't tasting the same. Not all, but most and they ranged from meats to milk products. Then I started getting cold sweats - whether it was a nap or the nightly sleep. Just like mentioned before, I'd start getting Gas-X tabs if I were you because eventually I think you might also run into that bloated feeling. Mine lasts from the moment I eat breakfast. (From what I've read on this site, Truvada is the culprit.) The last two problems didn't really start occuring until I had used the Kaletra/Truvada combination for at least two months. My doctor switched me from Kaletra to Fosemprenavir about two months ago and nothing has really changed.

So far... knock on wood, i've had no side effects. i'm so lucky!!! i really can't even tell i'm taking meds. i actually feel better - this is my 6th week - going on 7 weeks. I saw my doc yesterday. My VL has gone for 70k to 380ish. I'm hoping i will be undetectable next time i see him. My tcells are 60 points - he says they take longer to rebound. just wanted to let you all know. Also wondering how long it usually takes to get to be indictable?

I am also on this after changing from Kaletra/Combivir for 4yrs. the one thing I will say about Kaletra is the shit works. I've been on it since day 1 (4 yrs ago) and have never had a regimen change except for last month when doc subd Truvada for Combivir. And it wasn't becuase of resistance, just that long-term use of Combivir can affect you bone mass he said. In addition I have some pharmacy friends and Kaletra has a high effectiveness rate meaning that if you do miss a dose, mostly likely the Kaletra is still kicking pretty hard (sorry for lack of proper medical terminology..I'm a finance guy).

For what it's worth, I've been on this combo for the past 2 years. I've gone through the old Kaletra side effects, BUT, I've NEVER had any problems with the Truvada. Once the new Kaletra came out, I've no problems with either one.

FYI - about 2 years after I was diagnosed, I was hospitalized due to Cirrosus (spelling?) of the liver. That was 3 years ago. My liver has all but healed itself, so the Truvada/Kaletra has had no effect to the liver. I've never heard of anyone having problems with the kidney with this combo. .
