Viral load went above 200
« on: February 17, 2023, 02:16:12 pm »
Hey guys, wanted to see if anyone has ran into this. Not sure if this is a “blip” or maybe my medication is not working. Anyways I was diagnosed back on Jan 2021 and was put on Biktarvy. I’ve been pretty good with my medicine, within 6 months I was below 200 viral load, and it has stayed like that, I think the lowest it’s gotten has been 40 and then jumped back up to 60 in my last test, and now with my latest labs it went up to 420. I’m a little concerned, but wanted to ask the community if maybe they’ve had these “blips” I’ve read about and if I should be concerned.

Also, im in a relationship, and more concerned than for myself I am for my partner, she’s not on Prep.

Hiya,

It could just be a blip for various reasons, including defective copies being released from the HIV reservoir that is incorrectly counted.

What did your healthcare provider say? Did they do HIV drug resistance testing before starting treatment? If it were my results, I would ask to have my viral load redone in a week or two.

Personally, prehaps a bit overly cautious but I would at least use condoms until I had confirmed it was just a blip and nothing else.

How are you doing/feeling otherwise?

ojo.             Hi there!…Like Jim suggested, repeat viral load test and I ractice safer sex while you find out if it’s a blip or treatment failure, if the latter were the case, you will need a drug resistance test so your doctor will know what other treatment will kuck your hiv ass…welcomeme to the forum… please keep us posted
