Very worrying symtoms for over 3 weeks already...need help
« on: January 16, 2007, 04:45:04 am »
I am a heterosexual male. I have a low risk exposure on 15/12/2006 in erotic massage parlour, where the working lady with unknown status has performed nude body sliding massage, licking of the body, and brief genital to genital rubbing (less than few sec) and also rubbing of her genital on my back(less than few sec). She use massage oil during the encounter, and she used her upper leg near her vagina to masturbated me and made me ejaculated(less than few sec too). I didn't use any condom since there was no penetrative sex involved. But i am worried that some of her vagina secretion might get into my penis during the "leg job", Also I am concerned some of the virus might live longer outside her body, if she has a high viral load (she told me she feel hot) and massage oil was used. I have also got acnes on my back, and I am worried that virus can be transmitted through the acnes.
Anyway some worry symptoms started to develope few days after. On Day 4/5 I started to feel sick, dizzy, and feel hot. I went to see a doctor on Day 5 and he told me I have a fever (he told me it was just above the boundary, so I assume it was a low-grade fever). On Day 7 I started to develop a sensation of lump in my throat, which has been on and off for 3 weeks already up to now. Sometimes it feels better(especially during the morning, or while eating), but sometimes it got worse during the day, feeling like it was getting tight and swelling out, but it wasn't painful. I also feel hot all over my body(legs, arms, head, neck, back etc) randomly during the day, but no sweating, for over 3 weeks. I suspect I have a low-grade fever all this time, because i often feel hot on my skin and feverish. But when I measure my body temperature this couple of days it stays at 37.2C/99F most of the time, and only rise to 37.4C/99.4F at late afternoon, which was within normal range?) I also have a white coated tongue, low sex drive, and i suspected i also have swollen lymph nodes on the side of my neck.
Do you think I am infected?

You are not infected nor did you ever have a risk of being infected. Your symptoms have nothing to do with the woman at the massage parlour.

Absolutely nothing you have described put you at risk for HIV transmission, even IF the woman is HIV+, and you don't know that to be so. Rubbing, massage, masturbation and such, including with the variations as far as her leg, etc., are not risky activities.

The vaginal fluids which are potentially risky are in the cervical area, which would not have been accessible to you or your penis in the activities you have described. If you haven't already done so you need to read the lesson on Transmission on this site. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. You get all the basics there about transmission.

There's no need for HIV testing nor for further concern about this incident. I'm wondering how much of your fears are really about having been with a professiona and that if you were with a civilian you'd be less concerned.

As far as your symptoms are concerned, that's something you ought to discuss with your doctor if they persist. To me they sound as much about stress and anxiety as anything else, but check them out with your doctor anyway.

This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

A feeling of a lump in one's throat and feeling hot are classic symptoms of anxiety, not HIV infection.

Symptoms of any form are not conclusively indicative of an HIV infection.  If you are having sexual relations with people it is a good idea to get a full STD panel done every 6 months.

In the situation you described as others have said... no risk of HIV infection.

Thanks for the quick replies, I am very much appreciated.
I should have add that the "leg job" was indeed a worrying act for me, she was crossing her leg to pressure my penis during masturbation and it was performed right next to her vagina(between her vagina and her leg), so chance was my penis had even touched or rubbed the outside of her vagina briefly when I ejaculated.
I tested my body temperature again last night and this morning though, it stays at around 36.6C-36.9C, pretty normal, but i keep having this sensation of heat all over my body/skin randomly, even when I am at home at night with no access to sunlight or heat. I never felt like this before and I don't know what's wrong with me. Sometimes i feel like I am going to sweat even it is cool outside. I even woke up at 5am in the morning for no reason. I feel like some chemical reaction is undergoing in my body. I also have less appetite. How is this possible to feel so hot when my oral body temperature is so normal?

These are good quesitons for your Dr.  You should call him/her now and have that situation diagnosed.  It is nothing we can diagnose here.

I might go to see a doctor soon if symptoms persist.
But I can't really get the symptoms off my head now.
I just measure my temperature again, it seems to go through this pattern...
morning 36.9C, noon 37.2C, afternoon 37.3C, late afternoon 37.4C, evening/night 36.6C
Does this qualify as intermittent low-grade fever that many hiv+ will experience?
Sorry again but this sensation of heat on my skin has really been freaking me out all this time. I want to make sure if I also have a fever.

38.3 C - 40 C would be a temp associated to HIV. What you have is considered a normal temp. If a person would have a temp at all.

I am still worried.
Last two nights I have experience some night sweating I beleive, at around 6am-7am, after I have woken up at around 5am and fell asleep again. I also have this sleeping disturbance everyday(always woke up at around 5am abruptly) It wasn't drenching, but my neck was clearly sweating, and my shirt is a little bit soaked too. I think that might be the result of me constantly feeling hot too. My body temperature in the morning stays at around 36.6C, so it wasn't a fever I suppose.
I also have a sore glum (plague?) and a sore in my mouth (eating too many chips?), my tongue still looks whitish and I feel dry and thirsty too, and my other symptoms are still there (for 4 weeks already), I also feel abit dizzy yesterday(not sure if its because its too windy outside at times). I am pretty sure there is at least one swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck, and I am convinced that I have a worrying theoritical risk otherwise. I guess it is possible that my acnes on my back might have been scratched and therefore bleed during the body massage, since she keep pressing my back hard during the massage, so it is also possible that some virus might have got in through there somehow during the body sliding, licking, vagina rubbing?
I know this might sound stupid and unlikely, and sorrying for asking it again, but with these symptoms and theoritical risks presented would it be possible in a very slim way that I could be infected?

No chance in hell for you to get infected in that manner. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV, see your doctor if they persist.

Pile on the symptoms however you may you are still going to get the same answer here.

Neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to know anything accurately about your HIV status.

When there has been a risky incident, and again I repeat yours was not such a one, only an HIV test will give you a reliable answer. But you don't have to test because you weren't at risk.

If you're worried about symptoms discuss them with your doctor. Really.

Now on the week 6/week 7 mark i start to suffer from some kind of body ache all over my body, and occasional pain in neck/lymph nodes(especially the one under my jaw, which i felt painful at times for days, and sometimes i feel pain in different parts of my body, could be lymph nodes). I have many symptoms for over 6 weeks already, some of them have gone after over 4 weeks course(hot skin) but some of new symptoms also start to develop over the week too(body ache, painful lymph nodes, frequent burping, plaque tooth etc), while some of them still lingering there or maybe getting just abit better(lump in throat, dry mouth, white/grey tongue) and I still have some swollen lymph nodes on my neck(one visible, and few others can be felt). I know maybe I should discuss all these with my doctor. But before that I can't help thinking back about my risk, especially when all my symptoms start to show after this one single encounter. The truth is, and I want to emphasis that, I do have some serious acnes/pimples problems on my back for years, the girl has lick/slide my nude body full of pimples, with her nude body/tongue with some suspicious massage oil too. Alot of things could happen really. Blood from her mouth/cuts on her body/vagina fluid/blood etc all has the chance to get into my open pimples/acnes, especially after a hard massage, and especially when she has a very high viral load then my chance of infection will be getting higher, don't you think so? I know this does not sound a likely or common case in all your expertise/scientific knowledge/point of view, and I apologise for sounding abit repetitive here again while you guys might not really like it, but seems my case is quite unique here, the more I think about it? I just couldn't help thinking I might be one of the very few to get infected this way. Sorry again but your comment is really important.

Yes, a lot things could happen but not HIV transmission in the manner you are suggesting.

Discuss your physical concerns with your doctor. Your mind is on the loose and without any basis in HIV science. None whatsoever. Period.

Kimoz,

It just doesnt happen that way.  EVER.  I would suggest 2 things.  One dont visit massage parlours if they cause you this much anxiety and two go see a dr. about your symptoms.

How about masturbation and ejaculation by rubbing of nake genitals? No penetration but tip/uretha of penis might have touch the outside of the wet vagina during masturbation/ejaculation and therefore exposed to the virus? Is this a risk?
