Unfortunately it does seem that Singapore is not very sympathetic when it comes to HIV or any STD. I have no information on whether your employer/family might be informed, but you should talk to the local NGO Action for AIDS for some primarily advises:
"21 Norris Rd, 6254-0212, FAX 6256-5903, email. Formed in 1988, as a non-government organisation, to meet the threat of AIDS in Singapore. Funded solely through private and corporate donations, AfA's aims are prevention through education, support for people affected by HIV/AIDS, and advocacy for HIV-related issues. Phone counselling is available during the day and also the evenings of Tu, Th and Fri. AFA's Gay Outreach program has been revived and supports on-going events to get the word out to the community. Call the number above for event updates."
Calls are anonymous and from what I have heard they are very helpful and professional.
Many of your fellow citizens are going to Bangkok for treatment, but it's not for everyone (financial burden, etc) so you should weight all your options. Some of our fellow forum members here are being treated in Bangkok so they can give you advises too on where to go and what you can expect if you choose to do so.
But for now, just focus on yourself. You have any friends you can talk to for supports? How are you dealing with the news? Not much we can do over the cyberspace, but here is a good place for other general information on treatments, etc and supports.
I am in Hongkong and may be able to dig up more information.

thanks for the replies everyone. yeah it's really not easy to be poz in our country. everything is good here but it seems like there's not much support here from the goverment or anyone at all. moreover the scene here is so small n u just have to be careful about who to disclose.
it's been like 2months since i got my result. still in shock but it's getting better. Life goes on. i actually more worried about whether the virus will change my appearance. but i know i should care more about my health rather than looks. haven't told anyone yet n don't think i will ever tell anyone. it's just so scary if u tell one person n then it spreads like wildfire.
just wondering if u guys have seek treatment? CDC?

Do you guys have any strong religious rootings btw?
So far, I know of one malay medicine man in Sg who claimed that he can cure the disease. And another option is thru' healing session (see link below). I've emailed them and they said it it is possible to cure the disease. Scam or too good to be true?! I also dunno really.

Agree with you that we sd live on happily. Who knows we may outlive everybody else :P

Bernard, I am afraid you will find out that these forums look very harshly on those "spiritual healers". While you may be recently infected, through out the 3 decades that HIV have affected many there are many many many similar "cure claims", all blatant scams with no exception.
The only way to keep the virus at bay is HAART. You are well advised to get regular medical checkups to monitor your CD4, viral load, etc and get treatments when your body can no longer contain the virus from spreading. Otherwise you're risking your life with many opportunistic infections. Please be educated about this disease and not to give false hope to anyone who's already at a lost on to deal with their diagnosis.
Being "spiritual" for some people no doubt can help with the copping, and there are some scientific base to claim that a well-adjust attitude toward a life threatening disease - be it HIV, cancer or whatever - can help with the overall well being of a patient. BUT THIS IS NOT A CURE.
I know the situation in SG can be dire, but there's to be ways to get the proper medical attention you'd need instead of nosediving into this type of scam!

Have to agree with Komnaes.
Spirituality can help by giving positive mental outlook and hope to fight on.
I look at it this way, God (or supreme being, or spirit, or the force) gave man knowledge to develop medicine that can treat HIV. Relying on the medicine is relying on God.
For inner health, we all have to decide what source we rely on for strength.
I will be hopeful, I will try to he happy, and I will draw strength from all the sources I can find.
Singapore has great medical resources. I don't think there is any question that medically, we can find what we need to thrive here. I know the social perspective will be difficult. But if we want to survive, we must find a way to deal with that. Maybe we can be the ones to change how Singapore thinks!
