So, mistakes were made. I want it noted that I've had all my COVID vaccinations.

I'm not blaming Alan Ritchson but I'll just note that Reacher was on the telly at the time.

I'd been ill for some days and I couldn't get warm. It occurred to me that I might take a shower. (In Australian English it's "have a shower" but most of you people are little better than animals so I will defer.)

It was this that proved to be my undoing.

Long story short I turned suddenly and went through the shower pane. Glass all over the place like a mad woman's shit. I felt my spine snap as my skull hit the side of the bathtub

My bonce was split like a coconut at a luau. Blood, it turns out, is somewhat slippery.

But we'll deal with that later.

When you go through a shower screen there's glass. Like lots of glass. I was laying bare arsed naked on the bathroom floor with more shards in my hide than Dolly's chandelier.

Somehow I managed to crawl over the broken glass to get to my lounge room and call an ambulance.

I spent 7 weeks in hospital.

As I was being prepped for surgery to remove the glass from my various clefts and folds I'm told I went status epilepticus

I woke up in acute intensive care in St George hospital in Kogarah after having spent 5 days on life support because I was struck down with COVID disease. They gave me the anti-viral infusion.

I know, I would've let me suffocate out the back in a garbage skip too but what can you do? We have a health care system in Australia.

Short story long? I suffered a massive fracture to my lumbar spine. I used to be 193 cms now I'm 190 cms.

I'm a fucking dwarf.

Which means I'm also a cripple. I lope along with a pronounced limp. I walk like JD Vance writes.

Or Elizabeth Warren, the difference seems slight.

For the record my latest numbers are:

CD4: 102

With a % of 19

Tommy! It's good to see you're still around. I miss the crew. I'm sure Mother Ann is picking the crabs out of her beard as we speak.


I was sad to learn of the death of Mother Velez. Despite public appearances Andrew and I got quite well.

Katie, Daddy Time, Christine, Bucko, Doxie, AnnieBC, Joe Killfoile, Clifton Denley Jr. and that English wanker who shagged him at an AMG.

And, of course JK. There are others, but they can be found in the Memorial forum.

Even that Queerer-than-thou gobshite Tim Horn or Peter Staley. I could never tell those two apart.

  I am in touch still with a few and we all often share fond memories of the days on the forum.

  The internet just hit different back then.

To be honest pet, I've had HIV since I was 17. That was a long time ago.

I was, like so many of our kind, diagnosed late. I mean why get tested in 1989? We all knew what was going to happen, until we didn't.

Cryptococcal meningitis is a hell of thing, Once it's gone, it's gone. Where's Daddy Mark?

Anyway, none of that matters. What matters is that we're still here. I would love to hear your voice.

Sorry to hear about the COVID, Fall and hospital stay and I wish you well with your recovery.  Did the doctors think the walking might still improve somewhat?

It's not all bad, you are now closer to the ground should you have another fall and at 190 cm, (6 feet 2 inches) if you ever attend a costume party you could dress up as the tallest Ewok ever.

I have not been around much lately so not sure if Mark still attends our AM functions..

I have seen him active on FB within the last 2 years though.  A few others are still kicking it as well over there.
