Obama denies Texas' request to secede
Saying in essense, "Uhhh...No"

I say that as one who earned a Journalism degree. Every night on their 9pm newscast, they have a vote-by-text to decide which of three "news" stories they're going to carry during that segment. And the REALLY sad thing is, as I type this, the local CBS affiliate just announced they are doing the same thing.
My connection to both of those locals is topic for another thread, but if FOX says Obama says something, I need backup.

Well then Google it. It's an AP story.
But Ill paraphrase, it actually was just a White House Reply to the petitions submitted by Texas and eight other states to secede, and they quote Lincoln in the response and also say states have no right to walk away, they only have the power to ponder it.
It's really no news.

As someone else who has a degree in journalism, and worked in the field for 20 years, I agree with our Basquo.
Most TV news is bereft of any journalism, and Faux News not only lacks any type of journalistic integrity, but also any shred of veracity.
Now, I will climb down from the soap box and welcome you back into the fold.
Actually, we, here in the the Land of Enchantment, have been pondering how we could get rid of our neighbors to the east and the west. I guess we are out of luck. :'(
In reality, we needn't get rid of the states, just most of the people and, especially, their governors.
But, that is fodder for another thread.

That's actually one of several reasons why i quit, the heat jsut got to oppressive to smoke outside during the summers

I doubt most Texans really want to secede anyway. Other than the Planned Parenthood crap going on, which I predict is going to bite Rick Perry in the ass way more than his other closet activities, we enjoy the teat as much as any other state. Maybe even more so since we're doing okay already.
