I need proffesional answers n help pleaese....
« on: June 04, 2006, 01:07:39 pm »
K i had a potential unprotected exposure. although that person, the only potentially worrisome person just got tested recently and the results were Negative  :D

Here's my deal, ever since that exposure about 3-4weeks after i started to breakout in what looked like a rash, now the rash's characteristics were varied, some looked like huge mosquito bite areas meaning wide slightly raised bump areas in a lightish pink to red non irrated look, some little red sprinkled dots grouped or not, and then most looked like 1-4 inch slash lines across my arms that were raised aswell.... for the most part they are more vicious at work.

Although i do work in a warehouse with lots of chemicals (concealed of course) and boxes n dust of course, i had been there for 4 n 1/2 previous months with no such symptoms.

most of what i described there would happen on my arms elbow down all the way to the top of hand n even a few specles on my palm n fingers.
Now the part that would bug me out is occaisonally i would lift my shirt n see the same lines though a bit smaller n in varied directions on my shoulders, upper arm and even stomach.
Mind you all in a rash like characteristic, no type of blister, pussiness dry or really itchy kind of rash.....

About a month ago i went to the casino and i had long sleeves on and im sitting at the poker table (like i usually do) and all of a sudden i look at my hands on the top of course n i freak out becaus e i started to see them little red dotts between the end of my thumb and my pointer finger all grouped an pretty visible. now Imagine anyone sitting next to me like wtf is wrong with this kid. Again it had never happened there or elsewhere before. I thought ok maybe its the Fleece like table top......

Here's my last concern. This makes me think Am i allergic to myself? say i have a little pimple on my shoulder or even face, If i go to pinch it the whole are after wards swells up like i got stung by a bee... wtf?????

like for example i just pinch the area above my chin n below my bottom lip with both hands and immediatley afterward the whole area was swelled and red, im lookin the mirror like "ahhh wtf" almost to the point where when i talked i could feel the numbeness or swell of it.

Lastly all of the above basically fades or goes away about 10-20 minutes after they appear and also Iv'e never in my 23years had any kind of reaction nor allergy that i knew of and iv'e worked and been around everything. Warehouses, I did concrete work, landscaping....etc

HIV? Syphilis? Nervous axiety HIVES? some new kind of developed vicious allergy?  only thing that's really changed that i could think of was that exposure and my outdoor dog stays in my room everynight for the last 4 months but she's never givin me any irration of any sort in her past 12 years....

My exposure person's tests all came back negative n it was all beyond the window period or 3month time and i am getting tested as well on the 8th of June.....

thanx
regards
Me.

I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I ask:

"What?"

That to one side, HIV is transmitted through unprotected anal and/or vaginal sex or through sharing contaminated injecting equipment. If you've had such a risk you need to test at 12-13 weeks from the date of the exposure. Please check out the lessons section of this site. The link is in the upper left hand corner of the page.

And did you miss what I said? Let me print it in a pretty colour:

IF YOU HAD UNPROTECTED ANAL OR VAGINAL SEX YOU NEED TO TEST AT 12-13 WEEKS FROM THE DATE OF THE EVENT.

Dear Matty, thanks....I concur.  WHAT?

Scared....you wrote potential exposure.  That's like being half pregnant.

Ok, so the person you had unprotected sex with has a negative test...is it conclusively negative, as in no other exposures 12-13 weeks prior to it?  Do you trust this person enough?

The rash, um...not to be rude but this is an HIV forum, not a rash forum.  Symptoms when it comes to HIV are meaningless.  No matter how many times you ask, that answer isn't going to change.

Get a test, go to your Dr for the rash.

Sae.
Meh.

OK. Your concern is understandable but you cannot get your symptoms diagnosed here and no responsible person is going to even guess at their origin. You need to discuss them with your doctor.

As far as HIV is concerned, if you had unprotected anal or vaginal sex then you need to get tested at 13 weeks after the most recent incident, which seems to be your plan.

Otherwise, neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms should ever be the means why which you diagnose your HIV status. Only an HIV test can give you that answer.

And for future reference, how about using a condom EVERYTIME you have intercourse. No exceptions. When you have unprotected intercourse you are putting your life at risk. It's as stark and as simple as that.

Good luck with your test result.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Thanx andy n sae, yes the test was conclusive, I do trust them n know there was no other exposures since them.

I do use condoms all the time but in the case the condom broke. I believe they can break even if used properly. but what is necesarilly proper use. Do u mean u must apply lubricants for better resistance against breakage?

because i actually meticulously take my time putting it on, making sure its the right side up n that it is rolled all the way down to the base. it broke on a few anal entry attempts........

Also neither I nor they have had any other exposures or possible exposures......
I mean of course i could be off since i don't hide in the persons pocket but in this case im just about 99.8% sure....

Scared,

There is information in the Transmission lesson about correct condom usage and also please read through the condom and lube links in my signature line. It could be very possible that you are leaving a pocket of air in the tip of your condom, or maybe even using ones that have been stored in temperatures that are too high, or ones that are past their sell-by date.

hmm thanx ann, condom section was pretty helpful, didnt know about the using 2 fingers to pinch the tip part while rolling it down in order to keep air out. Everything else i do pretty much well.
All my condoms i 9 out of ten times buy on my way out so they are as new as they should be, and if i happen ot have left over from the session I keep in my room on burea, Don't have a wallet so that is not an issue...

when take them off i even go as far as too grip the rubber ring n expand outwardly so that the least exposure of fluids gets chance to come in contact with the head while im sliding it off. Im pretty paranoid about these things so... i think i do pretty well...  :)

pretty interesting stuff ANN thanx.... I will know the deal when i go to the clinic Thurs...

My bad ANN i actually went n looked for this because through reading other posts i realized it was an issue, i went to search n found my thread but it didnt seem to have a "reply" tab on it.......
I didnt realize the site had a Find my posts option....
Sorry N thanx....

Well hello forum fam, I posted about a week n a half ago i believe......
I get my ELisa test results from test on the 8th of june this thursday the 22nd

Im pretty worried at this point. Although Iv'e discussed the issue with my partner and made sure she went n got tested Im still concerned.

Her testing discussion doesn't make sense, i almost slightly believe by the way she described things that she didnt.

she says, "well i went to the clinic, i was real scared when i went for the HIV test, but finally she said i had nothing to worry about they came out negative." Im thinking to myself... WTF? So then i said "you tested for HIV on the same day?" she says "yea it was one of those 20 minute tests" and im like "hmmm ok..."
She then proceeded to tell me that now all she had to do was wait a week to get all her other results, which really got me scratching my head...

This time and everyother time iv'e gone for testing, they use 2 different cultures on my penis, for Gon, chlamydia etc... and they look under the microscope at it n can give me a fairly accurate result right there... but all the bloodwork is sent out n recieved in 2 weeks.

SO why is this person telling me that they told her, her HIV test was fine during that very visit n she had to wait for her less worriesome results to come in?

Either way she confirmed later on about last week or so that she was fine.....

My situation is that, I was HIV negative prior to this incident.... If i had contracted something from this person say such as HIV she would have had to be positive with it obviously prior to our engagement correct? I mean we aren't going to create a virus together.

So lets say the above is true she tested at about 8-9 weeks, me the week after orasure or not can i be pretty comfortable or sure knowing if she actually took the test that her negative results can be confided in as far as our exposure?

I go in this thursday n im completely worried, nervous, and paranoid.
I still get these random rashes on n off work.
When i rub or apply pressure to skin on my face or shoulders or anywhere really it tends to cause swelling in that area......

Im just buggin, I know people can get symptoms from anxiety and or stress but how serious can these symptoms really be?

Iv'e never had any signs of allergies my whole life how can 1 stressful situations of thinking i have HIV be causing numerous symptoms and situations? is all that common really?

I know all i can do is wait for thursday n iv'e been holding up pretty well but lets say for arguments sake i am positive, what are typical symptoms in detail, how long do they last n how often do they occur, I am looking for a more detailed if possible describtion than the lesson section. for example whats considered the trunk just your'e chest area? back chest stomach? or arms as well. Does the rash come in a variety of characteristics or does it tend to look the same........ etc....
do they come n go like in the time span of 10 to 15 minutes or do they last   on the body for days?

thanx......

I daresay none of us is going to go THERE.

Your friend got a 20 minute rapid test. Totally accurate. Many health clinics simply don't have the lab facilities on site to perform similarly rapid syphilis and gonnrrhea testing, so she has to wait for that.

Thing is, I cannot imegine this low risk encounter giving you HIV, especially with a negative test from your partner.

so u think i should be fine, based on her testing n my description?

I mean i been thinking the same my only argument is all these strange feelings n rash like symptoms i been getting..........
In any case thanks a million......
I swear by everything I love n have done when n if it comes back negative i will be moving my life in a much more stable n positive nature, Iv'e been putting all my goals n future endeavors on hold because of this test. I dont wanna get to comfortable in something n have it shattered by a mistake i made.....

I mean i understand that iv'e never had the disease n if it is negative i never will understand it until god forbid one day i get it or whatnot but I dont think i could ever come to terms with a bright reality in having it....

I mean its one thing to try n keep a positive mind about a negative situation wether it be this or cancer or any other prolonged complication but it must be subconciously devastating as far as trying to devoulge into a longterm goal n feeling 100% good about it.......
none the less this site has some great people with positive mindstates
Godbless u all in health, love n life.....

 ??? :-\ :(

I dunno, i go in tommorrow for my results, I am very concerned that it will not be good news, I go throughout my days not feeling to well either (physically) its mostly when i get to work n im active, and then usually after my first break i'll feel a bit better and i tend to feel better once iv'e been more physically active through a few hours..

This rash Like BS is highly concerning me. Its so random, it'll be at work where its most serious but at home aswell.
I'll just be online or doin sumthing n ill look down at my wrist n it'll be covered in red specalls.... or ill look at my thigh or my arm n i'll have red welt lines n sumtimes it'll be fairly large wide areas that resemble huge mosquito bite looking rash.....

sometimes on my knucles as well n my inner fingers. it also seems like my skin reacts to anything it comes in contact with even my own touch... How can ones skin become so sensitive over night?

This has been goin on for about 2 months maybe less it's driving me insane n sometimes i feel like i can't even focus and be at work.
Whats worse tho is that I have to wait till late august to get insurance n i really dont wanna go through a hot humid summer coupled with this BS rash messin up my mindstate day to day......

How often is Syphillis accompanied by HIV or vice versa.... could this syphillis?
None of my rashes open up nor get blistered or peel... theyr'e just red pinkish sometimes flat or bubbled areas that come n go after short periods of time throughout the day everyday..............

how can i go about visiting a proffesional doctor n not have Inurance?
I don't wanna get brushed off or not taken serious by some whole in the wall walk in clinic.

I just wanan see what happens with my results tomm. (thursday) before i go anywhere else so that i can single out HIV Or Syphillis........

:( this shit is killin me man...... THE F*** is wrong with me.....

Iv'e had assumed i had HIV before n was wrong but never had any of these symptoms... Anxiety related???? I hop sooo............

Grrr.......

Just keep breathing and I expect you will collect a negative result tomorrow. All of this symptom "drama" and everything else notwithstanding. No kidding.

Scared,

Glad we could help. Good luck getting to the bottom of your rash situation - because whatever it is, it is not hiv.

It sounds to me like you've become sensitive to chemicals through your exposure to them at work.  A sensitivity is different to a true allergy. Ask your doctor(s) about this possibility. That happened to me when I worked with clothing dye - and yes, sometimes the rash I was getting from work would flare up at home. I never went to a doctor about it, I just took greater precautions at work until I could change jobs.

You are hiv negative - now it's up to you to stay that way. Make sure you always use condoms and you will.

Congratulations on your not-unexpected negative test result.

Now that HIV and other STDs have been eliminated as a source of your problem, hopefully the additional tests will reveal the source of your problem. I agree with Ann that perhaps after working several months around chemicals and/or dust in the warehouse there has been a cumulative allergic reaction, but that's only a guess.

It should be some relief to  you to have eliminated HIV. Good luck with finding out what's up and getting it treated successfully.

Cheers,
