I've heard "96 tears" so many times on oldies radio 📻, I've always liked the tune, kinda reminded me of some Stones/Monkees, Punk Bubblegum hybrid.. but never gave it a thought to who did this 60's tune. The band's name is "? and The Mysterians", and that name alone raises some eyebrows especially that long ago.. how could I have missed this?

The music video was from somewhere in the 90's so the band had gotten a little age on them by then.. it's also a little weird, but a good weird and queer 🤪

I had binged the FX documentary series PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈 this weekend on Hulu and learned a few new things and I liked that the series tried to cover some stories that may have gone under the radar.

Overall it's a good documentary that focuses on the struggles of LGBTQ rights from the 50's to the present.

When the series covered the AIDS pandemic of the 80's, this song was part of that soundtrack.

And I also play this around gay pride, on the bars jukebox.

I love that retro synth sound, it reminds me of a time that has passed (although I wasn't born then). My favorite 80s song though was:

Tears for fears - Everybody wants to rule the world

Gloria Gaynor is of course a gay icon, again it's quite a song to be proud of. Gay pride sounds fun, never been to one (islander here hehe). I hope I get the chance at some point in my life...
Here's another song I found recently, sounds very indee

Lol, I guess he was really going for that Bogie/Bacall vibe since the girl in the video looks way too young for him.

It does bring back some old school memories.

Lost my virginity while this song played on the radio, there were other songs too but this one stuck with me the most.. i so cherish that memory.
And I actually had no idea at the time that the singer was also pornstar.

;D As a matter of fact, I was there summer of 1976, for about a week.   But I don't remember much about it. I was drinking a lot in those days :P   A friend  and I drove there from Buffalo.

Lol, @Fabio.. never saw that tv show, sure it must've been fun for little fabio. And yes, I love Shakira she's so beautiful.
Haha telenovelas were a big thing here back then 🤣. There is a more popular one that the intro song became a hit.

The entire early 2000s and 90s era of alternative songs was so much better than today. Everything sounds too polished, too electronic today. I was listening to this one in the morning after work:
Phantom planet - California

I had never heard that one fabio, it's nice.

Late 70's and 80's was the era i thought had the music I loved the most.. but that was when I was young, so I'm biased to that time.

Recently saw the lyrics to this new wave song which I loved.. I wasn't aware of what the dude was singing about..

Pete Shelly - Homosapians
https://youtu.be/PLpDP_b_0gw

The music video that I remember that was played on the jumbo screen at the club was this.. https://youtu.be/2HwmO_GZfzI

Guess I really wasn't paying much attention

Here's a Song of the Day from me. Typical of tunes I listen to when lifting weights in the gym

Bolt Thrower - The Kill Chain https://youtu.be/x9snwv5wFBg

Now put that in your pipe and smoke it! lol  :) I'm guessing there's not too many heavy metal fans on here?

Omg, I can't imagine you listening to this while lifting. Also you must be buff lol (I'm like a wimp if you judge by my music haha).
One song it reminds me of that I like is this one:

Escape the fate - This war is ours

Oh Yes! Heavy aggressive music really pushes me in the gym. In fact I am heading there now for 9.30pm tonight. Now it would be easy to stay in the couch, relax & be lazy so the thrash metal music gives me to energy to hit the weights hard.

However I also like 1990s dance music, and I even like 70s Disco music too. I got a good mix on my Spotify list which mixes it all up with the metal stuff too for gym or jogging.

Awesome tunes there Fabio. My weights workout went well last night, the metal tunes kept my energy up & did a good session. I feel it this morning! LoL!
Thank God for Spotify, what an amazing invention.
