Wow. So it's genetic in your case. I'm the only deaf person in my family. I sign SEE, ASL, BSL, NZSL and Auslan (thanks to my Aussie friend in Canberra who taught me some Auslan!) And I guess you could say that I've committed the Outrageous Sin as well, though I don't use it anymore.

I am a bad gayboy too... I don't like the diva genre of music. That's why I don't go to gay bars, the music really sucks. Seriously. One time I was kicked out of a local bar in ABQ for putting a bunch o' quarters in  the jukebox and playing non drag queen music. You know, lAerosmith, AC/DC, Concrete Blonde. The barwench pulled the plug out of the socket because she didn't  like the music. It wasn't "inspirational" apparently. I was asked not to play "that shit" ever again while she was working. So you know I had to do it .

A diva to a fag doesn't need need to be one of standard and cliche screaming banshees.  I am a House head and love me so Ultra Nate, Crystal Waters, Adeva, Robin S, etc.  When it comes to Cher, Celine, and the more typical pedestrian fare for the average queen I can only take some of their tunes (the MK remix of Dion's "Misled" is simply fabulous).  Still, my real definition of a diva is someone who moves you with their vocal prowess. Billie Holiday, Tori, Stevie, Lena Horne, Bjork, PJ Harvey, and a few others are the ones for me.  That doesn't mean I have posters of them or that I walk around the house dressed in my favorite white swan tutu or a bunch of gypsy veils; their music gets me going and that's just it.

They merely get up there and sing while others handle the creative end. Hence the difference between a Musician and a Recording "Artist"
