Title: Happy for them
Post by: Jeff G on March 28, 2014, 09:43:30 pm
My Best friend Tim has been with his partner Ron for 32 years , I met my friend Tim in 3 rd grade and we have been friends ever since so I'm just as close to Ron as I am Tim after all these years .

They are getting married in Iowa on April 8th and they have invited me to go along for the celebration and I suspect knowing Ron its also to save $50 so he doesn't have to hire a witness  :) .  We are going to make a road trip out of it and stop along the way to do whatever we find worth doing .

I cant think of two people that are more deserving of their hearts desire and that is to be legally married, something my generation never thought we would see until a few years ago . I'm am just busting with joy for my two best buddies that have been with me through thick and thin my whole life so I had to share it here .

Sounds like a fun road trip.  You could always rent a bus and take back roads all the way there, no wait, that was Priscilla... ;)

You should know that that our disbursement and shipping center is notoriously slow ... You are number 22674 in line to receive your gift . All back orders a week old are canceled and if there is a cure for HIV you will be billed $69.95 .

hehehehe... Of my 27,833 posts, 14,903 of them have been in the Am I Insane Infected? forum.  I also have 505 posts in the trash (many of them deleted Moved threads), so I'm actually already over 28,000.

Moved threads are also responsible for me being the Top Topic Starter on the Stats (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?action=stats) page. I always try to delete the moved threads once the OP knows where it went, but I forget to sometimes.

I've also spent over a year logged onto this forum - 414 days, 20 hours and 43 minutes - as of when I opened my stats page a few minutes ago. I need to get a life. ;D

They are both very excited . There is lots of love and sentiment about this wedding but there is also an urgency to it . Ron is not in the best of health and just turned 62 so even though this is a celebration of their 32 years together its also will make things much simpler for estate planning . They have 32 years worth of co-mingled assets ... you get the picture I'm sure .

Its heartless to deny the benefits of marriage to all of us ... so we have been going around Alabama loudly discussing the wedding plans and the look on some peoples faces is priceless . We had to get documents notarized and it was fun making a show of why we needed them . We only got positive feedback, only one person clearly disapproved but kept her mouth shut and only gave us what I call the stink eye look .

How wonderful that Tim and Ron are getting married!  And that you can be their maid of honor witness.

Will we get to see you on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress (http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/say-yes-to-the-dress)?

13 hour car ride?  Oy…

I can only speak for myself, but there are certainly days when I feel over 50,000.... oh wait, you're talking about posts, not years. ;D

IIRC, Peter Staley started AIDSmeds.com in 1999 and Andy was on board from the beginning. I rocked up in early 2001. I think you were here from around 2000, yes? I know you were one of the first people I "met" here, and that was even before we had the FuseTalk forum software. I think Peter got us FuseTalk in late 2001 or early 2002. You, Andy and me are the only ones left from the pre-FuseTalk days. Don't know about you, but I miss Peter and Tim Horn, the other original member/moderator.

That's about right Ann...There was always Peter, Andy and Tim H...I found the site around 2000 and you were one of the very first people I remember.  Soon after were Jim (fiskernish and krakerjm), Jan (anniebc) Joe Killfoile, Rocky, Ric Wilke, Jonathan (JK) and Tim (Moffie) as well as Canadian guys Gregory Scott and Alan (doyourowndamndishes). Other old timers I recall were Alanbama, Tim Hunter was fairly early on, Hermie, Brian, Lisa, Emeraldize and Bailey as well.  Probably leaving some folks out, chime in someone if you too were an early bird here at aidsmeds.com.

Yikes! What a haul! I've driven back and forth several times from CT to MN in one day but that was over 25 years ago. Hope you guys at least split the drive.

And yikes! What a haul! $161 on a quarter. Quit now!! lol.

I hope the nuptial ceremony goes well today!

I wonder if the newlyweds will be consummating their marriage this evening?   :o

Sounds like you're all having a wonderful time. Don't listen to Miss PeePee - she's just jellies.

Oh yeah, I'm just slitting my wrists about not being able to drive 15 hours in a car to IOWA to play penny slots and eat lukewarm buffets swimming with e.coli.

Throw the rice, dab the corner off the eye, remember how this seemed like going to the moon when you and Tim met in School. Marvel at the ties that bind us and enjoy the love.
True celebration off all things hugles, good God I could smile at a cat.

Quit picking on cats Mr Theyer, or I'll send my very own psychokitty Stewie down to the Big Smook to sort you out. Yes, I'm a cat lady and proud of my furbabies. Don't make me start 'dissin' pooches!

Even there "owners" think they are Psyco.

I rest my case.

Apparently Mr. Theyer does not take the threat of the visit from Stewie seriously. I would think twice if it were me.

He's the only psychokitty I've ever had, and I've had a few in my day. He just needs his 'nads nipped. ;)

Spoken like a sensible man. He puts Stewie from Family Guy to shame. You should see his hidden room - quite the torture chamber. I borrow it on weekends.

Jeff, so happy you're having a good time and winning!  I tell my best friend that she wins all the time at casinos because she's so generous; and so it is with you.  Have a blast!

he demurred, preferring to play penny slots at the casino like some 85 year old woman.

I hope she took her crocheted shawl, It can get breezy in those casinos.

Its such a stationary activity too and one feels the cold more with out movement Mr Wump. One more tip in case you find yourself in a less warm climate. Although as all off us know pay attention to base layers then that shawl is just there to be worked .

Jeff has the displaying off the bed linen from the balcony taken place yet? Always one off my favourite rituals , such fun to hear the shouts off "she had to kill a chicken for that much blood dearie" hollered up from some lusty wag or dried up crone , depending apon the brides standing .

Home sweet home . I drove from 8 ish yesterday morning and got home last night at 4:45 am . I won the marathon but forgot to train for it so I feel rather beat up at the moment .

I am happy to have been a part of it but I need days to recover from it ... I'm totally spent today .

That was completely insane.

Still done and dusted , enjoy some well earned solitude , plus there can be much dropping off the trip into the weeks coming conversations to look forward too.
