Hi,

I am Aks, 30 M. Around 40 days back i had sex with a sex worker. We kissed and after a while we had protected sex. The intercourse actually lasted for less than a minute. And to the best of my knowledge the condom was intact (am pretty much sure of that else if it was broken i would have known).

After about one week i also donated blood and when i got the result it was negative for HIV. During this period my mom was diagnosed with cancer and i was really tensed and we vistied hospital. During that time i had pin pricking fellings in my legs. Also would like to mention that i always had problem pertianing to pain in legs. So i assumed that these pin pricking feelings is due to anxiety.

Thereafter, i had little itching in throat and that used to go once i drank water. So itching was only there when my throat was dry.

Follwing that i had loose stool for a day (i have been eating out) and when i started taking medication its not loose but its semi solid and there is some discomfort for sure in stomach. I had this earlier last year as well and it streached to almost 2 weeks. So this time also it is streching long. And also its not that i am going to loo many times a day. Mostly its 1 time and sometime its max 2. Never more that 2.

I also gor ELISA test done at around 31 days and the result was negative.

I am really tensed due to the semi sloid stool as i have been reading that its one of the potential symptoms of HIV. i know symptoms are not the facts but still i am tensed.

Please help.

You were not at risk of HIV infection as a result of the sexual encounters you describe. Your 31 day negative test result is reliable.

Protected sex and kissing do not transmit HIV.

Your various symptoms are, therefore, not being caused by HIV.

Thanks for the prompt respense.

Honestly i am really relieved now. I ahve been really depressed in the past 1 month.

However, i was thinking of getting ELISA test again after 6 weeks and then after 13 weeks. I am so tensed that i cant afford to mess up again.

You can get as many ELISA tests as you want. The results will be negative.

You really haven't messed up, you know. You went out and had a fuck. Fucking is a perfectly normal human behaviour. You used a condom. This is the right thing to do when fucking.

Just want to add that i have been tracking myself. 6 weeks will be over in another 2days. There has been no fever, no flue like symptoms, no headaches, no major dy coughs, no swollen lymph nodes ( as per my knowledge), no unexplained fatigue( i have been travelling 80 kms everyday and then work and still no major fatigue), no nauisa or vommiting. The only problem was pin pricking sensation for some days and semi solid stool which extended for more than 2 weeks.

Just another thing, so protected sex is always safe???
and is there any possiblity that condom broke off and i did not found out??
also i was reading in this forum that its much easier for the women to get infected than man??? Someone also mentioned that there were cases that intercourse happenend without condom and the girl was hiv+ but the guy is still hiv negative( i know nobody should do that, this i just want to know for my knowledge)?

Condoms are designed so that when they fail, you notice it. They shred and it looks like you've got a hula skirt on your cock.

In other words, you would have noticed if the condom broke.

Symptoms are notoriously unreliable when it comes to diagnosing HIV. We here at AIDSmeds discount symptoms reports entirely, preferring instead to focus on risk behaviours. As I explained before you didn't enagage in risky behaviours.

There are no documented cases of people contracting HIV following protected anal or vaginal sex and 30 years of peer reviewed science demonstrates why this is so. You cannot contract HIV from protected vaginal or anal sex.

As I said earlier, you were not at risk and you do not need to be tested for HIV.

I know this might be kind of personal but is this the first time you've had sex with a prostitute?
I don't know about this last incident I had but whenever I had protected sex I tested negative even when it was with a sexworker. I've been going to sexworkers since 96 and ofcourse I always used protection and I have not tested positive yet thank god. Nothing is 100 but I think you'll be alright you did everything right by protecting yourself.

AKS, there is nothing HIV-specific about any of your symptoms. As has been said to you repeatedly, condoms provide very effective protection and there is no reason in HIV science to believe you did anything that put you at risk.

You are worrying needlessly. Often someone who has sex wtih a professional thinks they have been at greater risk. Whether with a professional or a civilian is irrelevant. What IS relevant is using a condom, which you did.

If you have any troubling symptoms that is something to discuss with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

I think i did most of the things right-:
I used a condom
It did not break

Checked myself for all these HIV symptoms-:

1. Rapid weight Loss- No
2. Dry cough- No
3. Recurring fever or profuse night sweats- No
4. Profound and unexplained fatigue- No
5. Wollen lymph glands in the armpits, groin, or neck- Not as yet
6. Diarrhea that lasts for more than a week- Yes
7. White spots or unusual blemishes on the tongue, in the mouth, or in the throat- No to the best of my knowledge
8. Pneumonia- No
9. Red, brown, pink, or purplish blotches on or under the skin or inside the mouth, nose, or eyelids-No
10. Memory loss, depression, and other neurological disorders- No
11. Burning sensation- No
12. Head Aches-No
13. Thrush-No
14. Nausia/vommiting- No
15. Ulcers-No

This i have been tracking for more than 70 days now...Its seems ok

So is it safe now to say that if someone use a condom and it does not break then there is no threat of HIV. And conversly, HIV ONLY Spreads through unprotected sex.

And is it also safe to say that i don not need to get tested as i got ELISA don at around 31 days and it was fine.

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv. You do not have hiv.
