Arizona, home of the wisest people in the Union, have decided to outlaw all internet trolling. Srsly.

Arizona House Bill 2549:

Quote
It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person.

It's the words "annoy or offend" that are really troublesome to me.   Many people are so quick to get their panties bunched up in a wad.  I probably offended someone by just saying that.  Who gets to define what is offensive or annoying?

Guess you'll just have to move to Texas instead.  You always wanted to be a Dallas girl, haven't you?   ;)

Doh! I would be in serious doo doo.

You would think the taxpayers of Arizona would tire of their elected officials passing these (I'm at a loss for an appropriate adjective) laws.

Does this mean people are permitted to use obscene and profane language when there is no intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, through use of ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE, but there's only an intent to joke around ? ;)

What a waste of energy.  None of this legislation has a snowballs chance in hell of becoming law, or if it did, being held up in court.  These states are just opening themselves up to the cost of defending these useless measures in court.  Coming from two states that are already laden with budget problems, seems rather foolish.

With all the problems going on that politicians have to work this is the kind of things they choose to spend time on ... and they wonder why most folks have lost respect for government .

Gov. Bobby Jindal's office responded to the bill by saying, "We’re against discrimination, but we don’t believe in special protections or rights."

Chilling that he might be Romney's VP.
