Ric Wilke needs our strength--UPDATED
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:58:26 pm »
Hello Everyone:

One of our longest term members is in the hospital.

Ric has been admitted into the hospital because he is passing blood and today it reached a serious point when he passed out this morning while letting the dog out and this evening when he was unable to get out of the bathtub, was very ashen and disoriented.  At which point Thom called 911.

I don't have a lot of specifics, and therefore think it's important that we all wait to hear exactly what is going on.  But knowing Ric the way most of us do, I'm certain that his spirits would be significantly uplifted just knowing that we are all in his corner.

Send him your best prayers/thoughts/well wishes/positive energy.

He is a very special man.

RAB

Ric Wilke has been a member of these Forums for many years.

We were honoured to be their witness when Ric and his longterm partner Thom got married at the Aids Meds gathering in Montreal last year August.

He and Thom are the most loving people I know.

I hope he will return home soon.

Hello Everyone:

I don't have much more to add except that Ric is truly moved by those who took a moment to extend their well wishes and good thoughts.

He is still in ICU (which isn't unusual for someone experiencing these symptoms), but is hoping to be moved to a regular room this evening.

Thom sent me an e-mail and said that Ric seemed to be on the mend and was hopefully looking at the possibility of being discharged sooner rather than later (can totally understand).

His (Ric's) voice sounded strong and clear earlier, he had his wit and gentle heart in full display, so those are clearly very good signs.

Hopefully, we'll all get to hear something more concrete from them soon.

Oh Yeah, one thing he made me promise to say and that was how important the kind thoughts and well wishes were to him.  I betcha dollars to donuts he had a tear in his eye.

I'm glad to hear Ric is doing better. Nothing worse than spending time in the hospital. Hope to see you out and online soon Ric.

It's always nicer to leave the hospital for your own home so Ric, get home soon!

Still channeling non-secular prayers your way.  Be well!

I'm glad Ric is feeling better. Hope that discharge comes real soon but even when you get back home, take it easy for a few. Wishing you both the best...

Rocky, it's good to hear that Ric is doing better.

Please tell him he needs to mend as soon as possible so that he and Thom can buy some more silver jewelry and other appropriate "accoutraments."

Hugs to both of them.

Hi Everyone, Thom here I am finally getting thru things and am totally tearful by all your thoughts and prayers I know Ric will be too when he gets home THIS AFTERNOON and reads them. I am supposed to be able to bring him home later today. It turns out that he had an irratated esophagile(sp) and that was causing the bleeding which caused other side effects. I know he will most likely give more details later. Well gotta run Thanks again everyone We love you all. Thom
ps Thanks RAB for being there

Excellent news! I thought about both of you this morning when I woke up. I know how hard it is to be in the hospital, and all you want to do is get better and go home.

Take care and rest well at home!
