Start to lose patient on waiting
« on: April 05, 2007, 01:05:33 pm »
I know that this shall not post on "Research News and Studies", but somehow, I start to lose patient on waiting for the vaccine while most of the research are aimed at preventive instead of therapeutic,   I know that the market of billion's un-infected is much more important then us, few infected.  But sometimes I wonder, for those preventive vaccine, can they also open the same clinical trial for the infected as well (ex. Trial on Haart patient where virus load is un-detectable?).

Can they just invent sometime so we can get rid of that god damned HARRT first, even if sitll not completely "cure"?

My patient is almost used up.......

there are many trials for therapuadic vaccines while on haart

what city are you in, can you do a search online for your city

there are many in california, nyc, boston, etc

go to the nearest big universities that have hiv research and find out

i think most all the vaccines are being planned for therapy not just prevention

but the initial test is better on non infected mice etc

it is easier to study vaccine in non infected see if it does anything

so any vaccine that is preventative i believe by the nature of what a vaccines is will be a very very strong candidade for treatment also

40 million people is hardly "few"

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

I think what Hahaha is asking is whether there are any therapeutic vaccines in trials without HAART (and/or that would allow us to discontinue or avoid HAART).   It seems to me that there are a few, from what I've read in this forum.

On this subject,  I'm familiar with some of the trials involving therapeutic vaccines and HAART, and what I wonder is how can they distinguish the effects of the therapeutic vaccine from those of HAART?  I mean, I'm on HAART and am undetectable.  If I received one of these vaccines while on HAART, I'd presumably be just as undetectable.   That wouldn't say anything about the vaccine in question.  The  only way to find out whether a vaccine really works is to try it on its own.
