transmission?
« on: November 02, 2013, 09:59:38 am »
Hi everybody; I am a student in europe and I had a little bit of fun in a typical gay club's 'black room' a few weeks ago. There was lots of blowing, masturbation, rubbing, grinding, frottage etc. (not all at one time, multiple guys, different times throughout the weekend... yeah I went a little crazy). I never had any penetrative sex, havent in months and never unprotected.

After this weekend, about a week later, my groin lymph nodes were swollen, then my armpits followed, then my neck, but the neck lasted a day, went away, my armpits and groin stayed tender for a while. If i was just sitting there, I would feel them tingle or kick in or something. Besides a few night sweats, and a weird deep bump that occurred on my 'taint' that went away with some cream ( it was like a pimple that wouldnt pop, could it have been a lymph node?) that was the only symptom. Went to the doctor, they did some voodoo blood prick to determine that whatever it was, it wasnt bacterial, it was viral. the word scared me. so here is where the hypochondrism kicked in. The lymph nodes only tingled for another week, but i've been worried long since.

I am worried about a few hypothetical situations that may or may not have happened.
Frottage-
1.) someone's cum onto a fresh cut on my hand, or a cut between my legs where the rubbing occurred. I am almost sure there was precum, and I remember scratching down there a lot.

2.) after this one guy jacked himself off, he immediately starting to jack me. so worry  2 is that maybe some of his cum got into/onto my urethra.

A few things I know that you tell people is that if you didnt have penetrative sex, it is not a risk. if the cum is out of the body, its not a risk. I just really wanted to voice my worries and see what you had to say about each situation that I am worried about. and I know symptoms can't diagnose you and everyone has different symptoms but I was wondering if this sounds a bit characteristic of ARS.

Thanks for your time and sorry for the novel!

You didn't have a risk for HIV . Frottage and masturbation are not even the slightest of risk nor was the oral sex . Your saliva has proteins and enzymes that damage and render HIV unable to infect  . HIV is fragile and becomes instantly damaged and unable to infect when exposed to oxygen and poses no risk outside the human body

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi!
Thanks for the quick response, I see a lot of the messages from Ann's usual posts that I constantly remind myself of (yes I have read these forums so many times that I can trace each quote back to each persons usual messages, Ann has the most comforting ones :-) )

I hope it wasn't too automated and that you really do think I have zero risk. Any words from Ann or Andy would be appreciated. I really want my third/final/free post to be me saying 'thanks and why was I ever worried to begin with!!!!'

But yes your first few words were comforting, so thanks again :-)

No offense taken . We give unique answers if we get a unique question , other than that there is no need to bang out the same response 10 times a day for no risk situations .

One of the others will come along and address you fears shortly  :) .

ger,

I hope you put what you read about here into practice - not just the condom use, but also the regular, routine sexual health check ups. They should include, but not be limited to, hiv testing.

I agree with Jeff that nothing you describe of your adventures in the club constituted a risk for hiv infection. While you don't need hiv testing over that specific night, if you haven't had a FULL panel of STI testing in the past year, then it's high time you did.

Provided you've always used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Other STIs are MUCH more easily transmitted than hiv and most can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know is to test.

AH! Thanks Ann :-)

Yes I have been tested for everything in the past year and will continue to do so. So happy that my ...behavior... doesn't call for HIV testing. About 2 weeks after the weekend in question, every little thing that happened to my body was like a sign that I had been infected. Sweating, aching, being tired, you name it. I see that my post has been viewed over 200 times already, I hope people find comfort in your answers like I did. It really does help to ask though, even if it has been answered a million times. I will continue to check this thread to comfort myself if any doubts occur. Completely expecting a negative result in the near future! Thanks again!
