what is the meaningness of life
« on: June 24, 2012, 12:25:18 pm »
I am young single straight. With this disease, I isolated from friends. I can not look for love and family and kids any more as people will just run away from it in my culture. I am in fatigue and depression all day. I was used to be very ambitious in career, but now life seems meaningless as I lose everything. Family and friends' patience are weared off to listen to me any more, as they could not understand why it is so difficult, doesn't it just some pills to them. Extreme angry, depression, fear, extreme sadness and heart pain. I just stay alone, sleep, sad, or cry. I don't know how can I get over, many times I just want to end this life but I am afraid to do that, but this life is too horrible..

First of all, are you on medication? Whats your viral load? Are you sick at the moment or healthy?

Well you mentioned pills so I don't know...if you are taking meds and doing fine, then theres nothing you cannot do in your life. You can become CEO of a company, you can climb Mount Everest, you can travel the world...having HIV does not prevent you from doing anything other than give a blood transfusion.

And yes, you can have children. Ever heard of sperm washing? Google it. And you could always adopt as well.

The other day I was watching a British tv special about this young man who was born with HIV...and he was dating this negative girl for years and they were trying to have a baby through this sperm washing technique.

So 2 lessons for you here: you can still find love and you can still have children.

HIV didn't change my life other than having to see doctors more often, but as we get old this is bound to happen anyway. I still drink, have sex, travel, socialize with my friends, date...I just have to take better care of myself, which is a good thing.

Sure, dating is the hard part because of fear of rejection. This aspect truly sucks, Ill give you that.

But trust me, there are people who will accept your status. You just have to be fine with yourself. No one will accept you if you are not accepting yourself.

Cheer up man. There are much worse things in life.

Rockin,

Wherehope is NOT hiv positive. Please see my two responses to him in this thread. (There is an additional response from me below the one I've linked you to.)

I'm locking this thread so other people who are unaware of his true hiv status do not waste their time by replying to him.

Ann

edited to add... Rockin, I just saw your reply in the thread I linked to above. When I wrote my reply, I was unaware that you'd already read the thread. Sorry! :)

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
