Swollen tonsils, fatigue....used protection, vaginal...
« on: December 15, 2011, 05:19:57 am »
About 14 weeks ago I had protected (used a condom) vaginal sex with an escort. I am a young adult male. It lasted about 3 minutes before I regretted what I was doing and ended the session. Ever since then, I’ve been anxious and too scared to get a test.

Well, some symptoms are starting to worry me. As of two weeks ago, I began to get an irritated throat. It was… not too out of the ordinary up until my lymph nodes (tonsils?) started to swell up. Part of my neck (I use a flashlight and mirror to see) on the inside is also a little red and irritated. I want to think I have strep throat but I’m thinking too negative. You know how tonsils have little gaps for tonsil stones? Well, mine don’t have any tonsil stones but on the right particular tonsil those little gaps are red and look nasty.

I’m on penicillin right now but it’s not really helping. I’m scared on people finding out what happened. I’m scared about possibly being infected. I’m terrified. Recently, I’ve started feeling tired but then again I’ve started getting 10-12 hours of sleep (more than what I’m used to). What do you think? What’s going on with me?

Other stuff: I do need to go to the bathroom more frequently now ever since week 6.

I've gained 21 pounds since this incident.

You were never at risk of contracting HIV in the situations you've provided. If your sore throat concerns you see your doctor.

You are worrying unnecesarily about HIV. Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission. Whatever is going on with you symptomatically has nothing to do with HIV. If your symptoms persist you should be discussing them with your doctor.

This is not an HIV situation. Period. And just because you haven't had a diagnosis about what is causing your symptoms does not by default mean the problem is HIV. It isn't.
