 MAJOR EARTHQUAKE ROCKS MATAURA

A major earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale hit in the early hours of Monday morning in Mataura NZ,
News of the disaster was swiftly carried abroad as victims were seen wandering around aimlessly muttering "f**k in hell" and "wos up bro".
The earthquake decimated the town, causing $30 worth of  damage.
Several priceless collections of mementos from McDonalds and the Mataura train station (that has been closed for 30 years) and the car park were damaged beyond repair, three areas of historical burnt out cars were disturbed.
Many locals were woken well before their benefit money arrived.

Radio Hokinui reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered, still trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting happened in Mataura.
One resident, 15 year old mother of three, Tara-tara
Boum-te-Aiee, said "I was still shaking when I was watching Oprah the next day."
Locals were determined to carry on business as usual, lootings, muggings and car crime still took place.

So far the Red Cross has managed to ship 4000 cartons of beer to the area to relieve the suffering of stricken locals.

Rescue workers searching through the rubble have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from the Warehouse and bone china from the $2 shop.

            CAN YOU HELP??????
Please respond generously to our appeal for food and clothing for the victims of this disaster.
Clothing is needed most of all -  especially:

 *Baseball caps

*Hoodies

 *Tracksuit tops (his or hers)

 *White sport socks

 *Nike shoes or white gumboots

Culturally sensitive food parcels are harder to put together, but your efforts will make a difference.
Microwave meals, baked beans, chips, ice cream and cans of Coke or Pepsi are ideal.
Please do not give anything that needs peeling.

Remember:

*45 cents buys a ballpoint pen for filling in compensation claims.
*$4 buys chips, chicken nuggets and a blue fizzy drink for a family of 9
*$10 will pay for a packet of fags and a lighter to calm a child's nerves.

Urgently required:.. tinned dog food for the pit bulls.

Please do not send tents for shelter, the sight of such
flash housing will cause discontent in the nearby town of Gore.

My little community needs your help..please dig deep... ;)

Hugs
Jan  :-*

Jan, that is one of the most moving things I've heard about since watching my freezer defrost.

My prayers are with all of the victims and hoping they can quickly slip back into total boredom while munching on stain sandwiches (a tiny bit of tuna in the middle of white bread).

Thank you all for your support and encouragment...everything is back to normal now...the kids are back on the street corners all sporting new baseball caps and hoodies, thanks to the generous donation by one of the residents of Gore..and 3 mugging have been reported so far.. ;)

Ann How did you know?..we are know as the sister town to Newcastle.. ;)

Andy Thanks for the recipe, I spent the first day handing out "stain sandwiches" I'm now know as "the lady to saved the community from starvation"..but the credit goes to you.. :D

Rab at least I will be warmer down there.. :D

Eric you could be right..I'm spending way too much time in the barn.. :D

Brian  at least you ran for the checkbook..love you too. :-*

Robert I would never try and pull the wool over your eyes..just think how happy you would have made a couple of kids if you had sent a couple of your buttons over...sorry couldn't help but get a little hint in there.. ;)

Hugs to you all
Jan :-*
