La vie en rose
« on: October 15, 2006, 03:46:57 pm »
Is there a  legendary song in your country sung by several singers, in  different decades,  by distinct generations?
La chanson française is quite rich and this is one of those much-acclaimed songs.

Piaf --- The original  --- She would almost always sing without a microphone! Incredible, but true.

Another gay icon --- Zazie

And so many other female singers around the globe...!

The word comes from the Greek words φως phos ("light"), and γραφίς graphis ("stylus", "paintbrush") or γραφή graphê, together meaning "drawing with light" or "representation by means of lines".

Those were wonderful, Val.
Edith Piaf is untouchable,
but damn...Aretha also brought a tear to my eye.
Such a beautiful song.
Thanks for sharing these.

For some reason I can't deal with Piaf too shrilly, give me Grace! And pull up to the bumber baby!

Cyndi Lauper released an album a couple years ago titled "At Last" which includes Ma Vie En Rose, she is truly one of the most underrated and brilliant singers of our day.  She, unfortunately, suffers from bad management.

She's my personal Diva.
