Carhartt? LOL -- they don't make ski coats filled with down feathers do they? That's more like what you wear on a construction site.

Marmot is specifically ski wear: http://marmot.com

Mine is like this -- fyi, I have owned this for over 20 years and have taken very good care of it so it's still in fine order. It was a wise investment when I first move up north. I only wear it on sub-Arctic days like this.

Now I need to go find my long underwear!

I was in Fred Meyer last night (The Walmart of the Pacific Northwest) and saw people running around in shorts with the freezing cold wind outside. Even with my Midwest sensibilities and full-on winter gear,  nothing says "Winter is not here just yet..." quite like cheetah-print spandex.

DanO,
I assume that the women are wearing that but with Oregon I'm not so sure.

Init,
I prefer the Carhartt. Never knew it came in pink. I wore mine last winter while visiting Miss P. She must have been biting her tongue.

Anyway, I see that just south of Buffalo they are getting lake affect snow up the ying-yang. 6' or more! How does one deal with that?

edit: I take that back. I wore a raincoat in Philly and I froze.

Learn something new every day! and Dano just heard on the news some place in ny will get over 70 inches of snow over night.  How the heck does one deal with that much white crap... looking for my swim suit right before I came on the board. said we are going to warm up to the 60's this weekend  wooo hoo Heat wave!  UGH meant to say Mitch not dan  lol  need to hire a proof reader

Buffalo, NY just got SEVENTY inches of snow. If they get six more inches from the current story it will surpass the all time record for 24-hour snow set in Silver Lake, CO in April 1921. (actually this will happen at a place about 15 miles south of downtown Buffalo)

Being from Buffalo, I am reminded, while watching the Weather Channel, why I moved down here to Florida 34 years ago. !

It's interesting how these snow bands set up in an area.  I am very familiar with the areas that are getting hit hard,...  Lancaster, Cheektowaga, Dunkirk/Fredonia...

I've seen 3 feet of snow fall in Buffalo, and barely an inch of snow 7 miles north.

The bands are supposed to shift north by tomorrow, so Downtown Buffalo,  may be getting it soon.

Finally have time.  I am going to text you a pic, Jeff, tomorrow, of my front yard.  We got over a foot and are still under a winter storm watch.  The temp is 17F and the wind is going around 25mph.  At least it's not Buffalo, that looks like a total shit storm.  Some people have no power there.  Jeez.

I did clear off the porch three times with a big broom.  But I haven't seen the outdoor kitty today and am worried sick about him.  I hope he's alright.

Nice day today, God I miss snow, why can't it snow here. I did wake up cold, and had to drive to my eye doctors appt where I waited an hour for him to say nothing's changed come back in a year. Ugh! Then I went back to the warmth of my office, where I accidentally left my AC on, oops.

Perhaps it's because the Ohio River area sits in a valley but there have been nasty winds for 3 days now.  It's downright bitter.  We only have 2 antique malls and one wine shop left on our WVA adventure before heading home.

We managed to find some Hull pottery that was missing from the other Greg's collection.  I was quite amused as he was balking at the cost.  2 days in an expensive hotel, several hundred miles of travel, endless miles of walking and bickering over a few dollars?.....priceless.

I don't negotiate, I simply pay what they're asking and move on.

Being in an area that I will always consider home has brought about great memories and a renewed calm.  Did a lot of driving from the Parkersburg, Ravenswood and Charleston corridor.

We took all back roads to get here but will pretty much insist we take the interstate to get home.
Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.

It was 41 degrees this morning, for our low. The house got down to 63, so I cheated and put the heat on for a few minutes, and warmed it up to 66.

63 is cold, when you get out of a hot shower !   ;D

All I can say is that I need to plant bulbs so it better not be too cold this weekend. I only buy them when they cut the price and they only cut the price after every sensible person has planted them in warmer september and october.

But whats spring without flowers peaking up from late feb even, to may.

I like this time lapse video, on the blizzard lake effect that hit South of Buffalo, this week.

It was played quite a bit on the Weather channel.  It's amazing how the frigid air sucked the moisture, right out of Lake Erie :
