Title: Please tell me this goes away...
Post by: aupointillimite on December 07, 2006, 04:39:34 pm
I thought that the fuzzy-headedness with Atripla was supposed to go away after a week or so.  Forgive me for being impatient, but it's been a fuckin week, and I'm starting to lose my fuckin shit... I feel like I'm drunk without all the awesome parts, the dreams are crap, and it's been a week since I've slept a full night.

I'm tired, I feel like my brain's made of cotton, I look like shit, and I want to hurt something.  As much as I enjoy staring off slackjawed into space, this blows.

I'd settle for feeling 80% normal, I really would... I just want this to settle down, yet it shows absolutely no sign of doing so.

aupointillimite, when I was on Sustiva and Truvada. I was in that dunkiness state for about three weeks. Then they put me on Atripla and I didn't have that feeling again. Give it time it will go away.

My first night I couldnīt keep balance and the next day I could hardly drive...But believe me...That feeling disapears completely. Try not to mix Sustiva with food. Take it 45 minutes before having anything to eat or two hours after a meal.

 Hi,
I am glad to hear that this side effect goes away for a lot of people, I personally couldn't stand it. It was like living a nightmare where I did not know if I was awake or asleep, and my doctor changed me to nevirapine after a couple of weeks. I have another doc now and he really does not like Sustiva for exactly the reasons you are experiencing. Have you talked to your doctor about it?
              Best wishes

I still get the dreams, but it's managable.  The drunk feeling is still there but it's going away, slowly.  But Im also sufferring from lack of sleep, the drugs keep me up for hours. I'm hoping everything goes away slowly and I'll start feeling normal.  The mornings are the worse, I feel so dizzy getting up...

Good luck to you...I'm hoping all of this goes away someday.

-Marc

I am finishing up my third week on Sustiva and the drunk feeling is almost gone.  Of course, if I get up an hour or so after taking it, I am still light headed but for the most part it's just a light headed feeling now.  Originally, I couldn't make it to the kitchen for a glass of water and had to crawl there but thankfully that lasted only a couple of nights.

I noticed high fat dinners tend to do me in.  What are your eating habits at night?  How long do you wait after eating before popping the pill(s) ?

Not eating anything at all seems to help... plus given my body's brilliant ability to handle toxins, all the shite side effects seem to be wearing off pretty damn quickly.

It made me all insomniac, so I take it during the day with coffee, and that makes the side effects pretty much go away.

I love how they say "take at bedtime."  Like I have a set bedtime.  Bedtime for me can be anywhere from 1 to 5 AM.

i don't have a problem falling asleep it's once i wake to take a piss i can't get back to a deep sleep. it's sucks i might wake at least 2 more times to piss and i Will always have some type of dream going on in my head. it could be a song or that damn head-on commercial "apply directly to forehead, head-on". it is hard to feel rested when your mind doesn't. it's kinda like the twilight sleep on the edge of awake the rest of the night.
