Risky exposure what are the chances I could be infected?

I recently(about 10 days ago) had anal sex with a man I hardly know and am not sure of his hiv status but I know he is very sexually active with many different partners both male and female. Of course I used a condom but when we were going to switch positions and he withdrew the condom stayed inside of me completely (not hanging out of me at all) and I had to reach in and pull it out with my fingers, he did not get to ejaculate and the encounter ended here but we had been having anal sex for at least ten minutes or so at this point and he was fairly large so it was a bit painful at first and I was soar for about three days, not sure if this increases the risk or not but I want to be as forthcoming as possible. I did not go to the doctor yet nor did I take pep. What is my risk of hiv infection? I asked of his status and he assured me he was clean but one never knows and now I can't sleep or think of anything else. The anxiety is driving me crazy and I can barely function. Also in this same encounter I gave him oral without a condom but I didn't have any cuts or soars in my mouth,this was before the anal and he also did not ejaculate from the oral. I know it was stupid and this is absolutely a wake up call for me but I hope and pray it is not too late. What do you think my chances are? Should I be worried?  Should I have gone on pep?

Hi Erica , the encounter you had is low risk if your partner and the condom had slipped momentarily without ejaculation , since you cant be sure how long you were having sex without a condom for protection the responsible thing to do would be to test . The oral sex wasn't a risk so that's not of concern .

You can test 6 weeks past the incident and again at 3 months to conform the results , I would expect a negative result if this is the only incident you are concerned about .
We don't give percentages on risk because there are too many unique things to each incident to do so accurately . The symptoms you are having are not HIV specific and that why we never guess what's causing a symptom . The only way to know your HIV status is to test at the appropriate time . I personally would not have opted for PEP if the decision were mine to make . 

Referring to HIV negative people as clean infers that those of us that HIV positive are dirty and that's offensive to us that are living with HIV . 

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care checkup, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine checkups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!
