CH,

1. Yes and yes.

2. Yes.

I think you would have known if you were the insertive partner.

You really need to stop thinking about this and analysing it so much. Your driving yourself crazy and nearly taking me along with you.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thanks Ann, I'm trying not to go crazy. The more information I gain the easier it is for me to process. I now just have to wait.

Hi there,

So I finished the course of PEP and didn't have any major side effects except perhaps some headaches.  Other than that, I was pretty much myself and the anxiety did improve.

I did a rapid HIV test at 5 weeks post exposure which was negative.  I have read that a test at 4-6 weeks post exposure, while not definitive is a good indication.  What are the thoughts on this?

I was also advised to do a serum test at 6 weeks, as this is supposed to be 99% accurate of transmission.

Thanks,

CH

Antibody test at 13 weeks from the end of the PEP regimen.

Don't start complicating this matter further than you already have.

Just take an antibody test at 13 weeks after the completion of PEP. That will give you a conclusive result.

So yesterday I got my results back from the serum blood test and they were negative  :)

They told me that the test is very accurate for any exposure risk 6 weeks or earlier and I took the test at nearly 7 weeks.

So I feel much better and thank you Ann particularly for your support on here.  I have learnt my lesson and am going to volunteer for the local gay/lesbian hotline to help others who want to talk.

ch,

No big surprise there. We've been telling you for a couple months now that you were never likely to end up positive from this incident and you certainly didn't need PEP.

Frottage risk with positive partner
« Reply #57 on: December 22, 2010, 10:00:05 am »
Hi there,

I recently met a guy and before he told me he was HIV positive, we had done deep kissing, he had given me oral sex (I did not give to him), and then there was some quite intense frottage where my penis was very close to his anus and a lot of grinding and me pressing up against him.  There was no penetration but was concerned about a possible risk to me from this activity as he was HIV positive.

I think based on my research that the risk was pretty low, but just wanted some clarification.

Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Ch

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different. You were told this last spring, so get with the program.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

And another thing, I know you applied for a new account earlier today after first logging into your original account. You're lucky I only rejected the new account - I was well within my right to ban you outright for violating our forum rules and Terms of Membership that you agreed to when you first signed up. Do it again and I WILL ban you. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Frottage is not low risk, it is NO RISK. Getting a blowjob is also not a risk for hiv infection.

I hope you're not going to go the unnecessary PEP route again.

Thanks for the clarification re. the risk factors.  Plus apologies for trying to get another account - wasn't trying to do the wrong thing, just thought a new account would be easier with a new topic so as not to get confusing.

Happy holidays.

CH,

Our Terms of Membership and forum rules are both very clear on the subject of having more than one account. Please don't do it again.

And Happy Holidays to you too.

Just remember to use condoms, correctly and consistently for anal or vaginal intercourse and you WILL avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
